Informant was talkative and very cooperative. Information seems reliable.
Military History:Forced to volunteer or the “Volunteer” Army on 25 Jul 50 at CHUNNAM MYON. PW was captured by US forces while he was unconscious.
T/O Of PW's Unit:7th Co was composed of 1 x HMG Plt and 3 x rifle plt, 4th Plt was waiting the arrival of HMG’s but did not have any on hand. HMG Plt equipped with PPsh M1941 submachine guns (300 rounds), squad leader - DP light machine gun (300 rounds) and rest of troops were equipped with M1938 carbines (200 rounds ammo), Rifle plt equipped with one DM light machine gun (amt of ammo unk) and M1938 catbine (amount of ammo unk) for rest of troops,
Disposition of Above Unit:13th Regt’1 Hqrs was located in the village of TONGCHON (approx 8 km from HAMAN). Direction and exact location unknown. 8th and 9th Co were stationed in TONGCHON at time of PW’s capture, 7th Company was on the way to HAMAN when attacked by US forces,
Strength of Above Unit:7th Company strength when departing TONGCHON was approx 70, After attack about 30 troops remained,
Food & Ammunition Supply:Ammunition: PW hauled ammunition from a hill located 50 m N of TONGCHON village. 20 boxes of rifle ammunition (6" x 14" x 3"), each box containing 200 rounds, were observed in the bamboo groves on this hill.
Food: Food supply point for the unit was located at RR tunnel about 8 km from TONGCHON. Direction unknown. This was the only point of supply.
Capability of Unit:Morale: The morale of the unit was very high,
US PsW:Seven US PsW were observed at CHOCHIWON on 9 Aug 50.
South Korean Civilians:South Korean civilians welcomed the North Korean troops at CHINAN GUN by saying "Win the war and let us see your healthy return."
Enemy Intentions:Unknown.
