PW was cooperative in answering questions, but date and location are not certain, therefore, information received seems to be not very reliable.
1200 hrs 12 Feb 51, while PW and one other were sent out to boil some hot water for unit at a village, his unit moved to an unknown location. Captured by ROK troops at a hill 20 km NE of WONJU the same day.
a. Chronology:
26 Jan 66th Army crossed 38th parallel and engaged UN Forces at 30 Km S of 38th parallel 27 Jan 51, then rested about a week.
0300 hrs 10 Feb 51, 1st Bn of 591st Regt consisting of approx 400 men arrived at a hill 20 km NE of WONJU and dug individual shelters and at 1000 hrs on the same day, they were attacked by UN Forces. After engaging them for 2 hrs, they withdrew 1000 meters and next morning (11 Feb 51) they returned to same location.
1300 hrs 12 Feb 51. when PW and one other soldier came back from a village, his unit had already moved to unk location.
1st Bn of 591st Regt were 1st, 2nd, 3rd Inf and a Heavy Weapon Company.
b. Weapons:
1st Bn was equipped with following weapons: 2 mortars and 5 HMG in Heavy Weapon Company and every soldier was armed with M38 Jap rifle and 2 to 3 hand grenades.
PW does not know the objective of his unit.
c. Ammo Supply: None after crossing 38th parallel.
d. Food Supply: Sufficient; obtained from villages.
e. Physical Condition: They seemed to be in good condition. No one was suffering from frost-bite.
f. Morale: Low, because of air attack, lack of sleep and the cold weather.
g. Personalities: Heavy Weapon Company CO: WAN Al Wang (30)
