Fairly intelligent, cooperative. Reliability - fair.
a. Chronology:
20 Sep 50 - Conscripted into the NKA, and assigned to 12th Div.
1 Nov 50 - Arrived KANGGYE (江界) where 8th Division was stationed. Received 14 days basic training.
15 Nov 50 - 12th Division departed KANGGYE on foot.
25 Jan 51 - Arrived WONJU, engaging in three battles on the way. Once in the vicinity of CHUNCH'ON (春川) with the ROK troops, again at HONGCH'ON (洪川) with the US forces, and in the vicinity of WONJU (原州) with an ROK unit.
26 Jan 51 - 2nd Regt had small arms ammo, artillery shells, etc., issued to them by the 3rd Regt ammo depot. Advanced to the front with 1st Regt on the right flank, and 3rd Regiment on the left.
5 Feb 51 - PW surrendered to US forces.

c. Unit History:
12th Division was reorganized in KANGGYE, with retreating soldiers from routed units, as well as freshly inducted conscripts.

e. Disposition
When last observed (4 Feb 51), the 12th Div Headquarters was located in the vic of CHUNCH'ON (春川). The 2nd Regiment was about 28 km northeast of WONJU, flanked by the 1st and the 3rd Regiments. The 82mm Mortar Company was situated about 12 km southeast of the 2nd Regiment.
f. Morale:
Low: due to high losses from air attacks and artillery fire.
g. Supply:
Each man carried 3 days rations, and 100 rounds small arms. Mortar shells were carried by ammo bearers - 3 to each man in a platoon of 18 men. 82mm mortar was carried by 3 men. No extra clothing was carried.
