2. ASSESSMENT:
When this interrogation was begun, the PW first utterance was that he had not been fed in three days. Despite this, however, he was cooperative and gave information freely.
Information seemed fairly reliable in view of PW alertness and consistency.
PW appeared to be in good physical condition at the time of interrogation.

3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:
a. Chronology:
CNA 3rd Army (國府三軍) surrendered to CCF 4th Field Army in Feb 50 at PEIPING (北平). PW did not know how many troops surrendered at this time.
Captured troops were integrated into the units of the 4th Field Army.
PW with approximately 12 former CNA troops were assigned to the Hvy Weapons Co of the 2nd Bn, 377th Regt, 126th Div, 42nd Army, 4th Field Army.
Received two months of infantry training with above unit at PEIPING.
April 50, 42nd Army moved to TAPEI SHAN (大北山)and participated in combat against guerrillas for three months.
July 50, after cleaning up all the guerrillas, 42nd Army departed TAPEI SHAN by train and arrived at CHICHIHAR (齊齊哈爾).
Engaged in farming at CHICHIHAR for approximately two months.
Oct 50, 42nd Army (124th, 125th and 126th Divisions) departed CHICHIHAR by train and arrived CHIAN (輯安) via SSUPING CHIEH (四平街), MUKDEN (奉天), and TUNGHWA (通化) Oct 50.
From CHIAN, crossed the YALU River over a RR bridge and entered KOREA.
No place names and dates while travelling in KOREA were available. The 377th Regt travelled only at night.
After travelling for days, 377th Regt arrived at a mountain 20 Feb 51.
Upon arriving at the mountain, PW HMG platoon position was attacked by UN troops. During the battle, the platoon was disorganized.
20 Feb 51, PW and 30 other troops from the Hvy Weapons Co were captured on the same mountain.

b. Location and Activities of Unit:
The 377th Regt was located on the same mountain (location unknown) when PW platoon was attacked as of 20 Feb 51.
Hq was located 5 km E of the mountain (attacked by 5th Cav) as of 20 Feb 51.
The Hq of the 126th Div was located near a RR bridge on the HAN River approx 50 Km NE of the village where the 377th Regt Hq was located as of 20 Feb 51.

c. T/O & E and Strength:
4th Field Army: 38th, 39th, 40th, 41st and 42nd Armies.
42nd Army: 124th, 125th and 126th Divisions, Artillery Division.
126th Division: 376th, 377th and 378th Rifle Regiments.
377th Regiment: 3 Rifle Battalions, Litter-Bearer Bn.
2nd Battalion: 3 Rifle Companies, HMG Co.
Hvy Weapons Co: 2 HMG Platoons, 82mm Mortar Platoon.
2nd HMG Platoon: 3 HMG Squads.

e. Food, Ammo and Other Supplies:
Food was procured locally. PW fed 3 meals per day.
Captured ammo was the only source of ammo supply for the troops.

f. Signal:
Field telephones were used for communication at the battalion level.

g. Morale and Battle Effectiveness:
The morale of PW unit was low due to the lack of weapons, ammo, and battle fatigue.

h. UN PW:
Observed 2 US and 8 ROK PW who were being taken to the rear at MYONG WON (Phonetic) Dec 50.

i. Medical:
No disease cases noted in PW Company.
Approximately 160 troops of PW 2nd Bn were suffering from frozen feet. They were usually sent to the rear for treatment.

j. Psychological Warfare:
PW was captured when his Company position was overrun. He had seen no leaflets.
