a. Chronology:
25 Jul 50: Conscripted into NKA at KILCHU (吉州).
30 Jul 50: Entrained to P’YONGYANG and commissioned Jr Lt
1 Aug 50 - 15 Aug 50: About 150 officers moved by train to SEOUL. Received lectures according to the sections they were assigned. (I.E. Staff Sec, Political Sec, Rear Sec). PW was in the Staff Section.
17 Aug 50: PW and approx 30 men moved by bus to TAEJON (大田) as replacements. Assigned to 102nd Regt, 25th Bn as operations officer.
20 Aug 50: 4 officers (3 operations & 1 Regt political officer) moved to CHONJU (全州) where they made training plans, together with the Regt CO. The 102nd Regt was training here at the time.
2 Sep 50: 25th Bn marched to KUMJE (金提) where they trained.
12 Sep 50: 25th Bn moved to IRI (裡里) to guard coastline near KUNSAN (群山).
21 Sep 50: 25th Bn moved to the vicinity of KUNSAN (群山).
28 Sep 50: Started to retreat north after unit broken up.
17 Nov 50: PW and Regt commander with about 300 stragglers arrived in the vicinity of KARYOJU (佳麗州). At that time the 2nd Corps Hq was located at KARYOJU (佳麗州). Regt CO reported to Corps Hqs.
20 Nov 50: Regt commander received orders to form the 1st Mobile Regt (機動聠隊) with the remainder of the 102nd Regt and NAMHAE (南海) Brigade, at a place 30 km SE of KARYOJU (佳麗州).
30 Nov 50: 1st Mobile Regt moved to HOEYANG (淮陽) where they defeated the ROK Security force. This Regt was directly under II Corps. At SINAN (新安) PW was ordered to take 81 men to the II Corps Hq Personnel Sec (隊列部) as the Regt was over strength.
5 Dec 50: PW and 81 men reached KUMHWA (金化) where the II Corps Hq was.
7 Dec 50: Arrived KUMHWA (金化) and turned the 81 men over to the 2nd Corps Hq. When PW was on his way to rejoin his unit, he met the unit near SINAN (新安). The Regt was reporting to 2nd Corps Hq at KUMHWA (金化).
11 Dec 50: Regt reached KUMHWA (金化) where they were redesignated the 9th Div, 3rd Regt.
13 Dec 50: 3rd Regt moved to YONCH’ON (連川) where they engaged an UN unit.
28 Dec 50: 3rd Regt reached WOR-RI (原里).
30 Dec 50: 3rd Regt crossed the 38th parallel in the vicinity of INJE (麟蹄).
1 Jan 51: PW was told by Regt CO to bring the 8 Regt officers who stayed behind in WOR-RI (原里).
3 Jan 51: PW was returning to his unit when he was wounded in an air attack.
7 Jan 51: Put in a hospital at KAPCH’ON (甲川).
26 Jan 51: Released from hospital. During PW stay in hospital the 3rd Regt broke up and joined the 1st Regt and this new unit was redesignated the 3rd Regt.
30 Jan 51: Rejoined 3rd Regt at KURGOL (굴골).
2 Feb 51: 3rd Regt moved to SANGANHUNG (上安興) and rested for 3 days.
5 Feb 51: Separated from 3rd Regt when they were going to SANGANNI (上安味).
7 Feb 51: PW was going to rejoin his unit with 3 others who stayed behind but found out that the ROK Army had moved into the area. So they surrendered at TAEHWA-MYON (大和面).

When last observed (3 Feb 51), 9th Div was about 16km north of SANGANHUNG (上安興).
g. Morale:
Morale low because of lack of winter clothing and shoes. Also due to lack of artillery support.
h. Supply:
Each man carried about five days rations and about 100 rounds of ammunition.
i. Other Units:
6 Feb 51 27th Div Hq was seen in the vicinity of MULGOL (울골).
5 Feb 51 Saw 17th Regt 2nd Div in UNGYO-RI (雲橋里).
