PW seems cooperative and yet cannot give any information on weapons and personnel. He was in the 1st Div for only 16 days.
Military History:Inducted 3 Jul 50 at SARIWON (沙里院). Received 15 days of basic tol training. Departed SARIWON 24 Jul - RR - arrived YANGPYONG (陽平) 28 Jul. Departed YANGP’YONG 29 Jul - on foot and by passed CH’UNGJU (忠州), and arrived MUN’GYONG (聞慶) ? Aug 50. Departed MUN’GYONG via HAMCH’ANG, arrived KUNWUI o/a 12 Aug
22 Aug 50 PW was at the Regt Hqrs on a mt about 16 km S of KUNWI (1150-1450). The Co CO told a number of his men to go down the hill because the enemy was advancing. Having gone down the hill and waiting for 2 hrs, when CO did not follow the plt ldr ordered PW to see what happened to the CO. PW want back but did not see the CO. So he went down the hill again. By that time the enemy had advanced so he gave himself up to the ROK 10th Regt showing them the leaflet he had picked up 18 Aug 50. He was captured 23 Aug 50.
Foreign Elements:PW saw one Russian officer getting out of a Russian jeep, had two stripes and one or two stars. He spoke Russian. PW saw this Russian officer in the vicinity of HAMCH'ANG o/a 2 Aug 50.
Weapons and Personnel:Before PW gave himself up, there were 20 men in his company. PW sated that before he was captured, the 2nd Regt and the 13th Div were on the right of his regt while the 3rd Regt was to the rear. Armor and arty PW saw were 2 x 120mm Howitzers and 10 x 76mm guns N of KUNWI o/a 16 Aug 50. 2 x type unk tanks observed S of KUNWI on 16 Aug 50.
Supplies:Received food twice a day. PW stated that ammo was brought from the rear by ex cart and coolies. Source of supplies and ammunition unknown.
Enemy Intentions:Mission was to take T’AEGU by 6 Aug, then changed to 14 Aug. o/a 6 Aug before arriving at KUNWUI, PW and approx 500 recruits were placed in the 1st and 2nd Bn of the 1st Regt, 1st Div. PW believed that 1,000 recruits were placed into the 13th Div on the same day. These 1,500 recruits departed SARIWON 24 Jul 50.

Telegraph code unknown but they used river and place names. PW sated that soldiers saw leaflets and laughed, however he did not know if that laugh came from the heart. PW believed the 1st Div was composed of recruits. PW heard from a former worker that his factory produced PPsh submachine guns at P’YONGYANG. Factory name unknown.
