Military Unit:
Prisoner was inducted into the Army in March 1949. He was assigned to the 16th Regiment of the 4th Division, but was transferred to the Training Battalion of the 4th Division on or about the 15th of June 1949 and was then transferred back to the 16th Regiment on the 30th of July 1950. He received training as a rifleman.

The entire 4th Division left CHINNAMPO on or about the 20th of June 1950 on a train and arrived at NAMCHON-JOM on the 25th of June 1950. From NAMCHON-JOM, the unit marched on foot, passing through YONGCHON, TONGDUCHON, UISONGBU, and arriving at SEOUL on the 30th of July. Leaving SEOUL on the following day, the 4th Division passed through SUWON, PYONGTAEK, CHONAN, KONGJU, TAEJON, KUMSAN, and ANUI. At ANUI, the 16th Regiment was separated from the 5th and 18th Regiments, and continued through KOCHANG to HYOPCHON.
The 16th Regiment departed from HYOPCHON at midnight on the 4th of August. Subject estimated about 700 to 800 troops crossed the river. After crossing the river, the unit had advanced about two miles when they were attacked by American troops. Subject observed that five North Korean had been killed and that five had been captured.
