On the morning of 23 Aug. 50 ROK soldiers attacked PW’s platoon (3rd Plt, 4th Co, 2nd Bn) and one NKPA rifleman was wounded by ROK small arms fire. PW’s squad ldr ordered PW to help wounded rifleman to go to the roar. Enroute PW and wounded man stopped in a vacant house to rest. While resting they were captured by ROK soldiers.
Weapons and Personnel:Present strength unknown. Losses heavy but number unknown. PW stated that he was one of a group of 1,600 replacements for 1st Div who arrived in (1150-1450) 22 Aug 50.
Artillery:Observed five artillery pieces (type unk) TANYANG (7 Aug 50).
Supplies:Received average 2 rice balls a day.
Enemy Intentions:Objective of 1st Div was T’AEGU. No gas equipment or training received.
