14 1300K Aug 50, PW’s unit (2nd Co) was bombed and strafed by US aircraft. Due to the severe bombing and strafing the 2nd Co retreated to an unknown mountain near P’OHANG-DONG. However PW hid in an unknown village for 6 days. On 18 2000K Aug 50, PW gave himself up to the ROK’s 18th Regt near P’OHANG-DONG.

Riflemen were armed with US M1 and Russian M1891/30 rifles, 150 rounds and 4 grenades. Squad leaders and asst squad leaders carried the same arms. Officers had M1895 pistols.
Company: 1 x HMG, 2 x 105-mm Mortars, 2 x LMGs.
Casualties: 2nd Co, 1st Bn lost 80 men, 6 km NW of P’OHANG-DONG, 18 Aug 50.
No replacement of men or equipment to 18 Aug 50.

PW observed 20 vehicles (ZIS-151) and GAZ-51) and 20 horses. (with supplies - food and ammunition) at KIGYE (1210-1460) 14 Aug 50.

Supplies:
PW received average of two meals per day. Food was located from farmers. Ammunition last received near SINDOK-TONG (新德洞) (1170-1510) on 9 Aug 50. 20 rounds were issued per man.
After 10 Aug 50, PW’s unit (2nd Co) did not received any supplies (food and ammunition).
According to PW he believes ammunition was shipped from CHINA, because he observed Chinese marking on grenades and shells.

PW heard from his squad leader around the latter part of Jul that the 7th Div was redesignated the 12th Div but most of the troops still referred to their unit as the 7th Div.
