2. ASSESSMENT:
PW was intelligent and spoke freely. Information is considered reliable.

3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:
Chronology:
15 Sep 50: PW joined the NK Home Affairs 103rd Regt, 26th Bn at SEOUL. He received five days of basic training.
21 Sep 50: The Regt was ordered to WONJU for duty but due to the UN offensive, the Regt started retreating to PYONGAN PUKTO arriving at its destination during early Nov. The 103rd Guard Unit was deactivated and the PW was transferred to the Recon Co of the 12th Inf Div. PW received 15 days of training in Reconnaissance.
25 Nov 50: The PW’s Co was ordered to P’YONGYANG and arrived in the city 5 Dec 50.
6 Dec 50: The Recon Co started for KAESONG and arrived 24 Dec 50.
25 Dec 50: The Recon Co was ordered to CHANGDAN and established its Co Hq in a small village with approx 25 homes located 5-600 m NNW of the CHANGDAN RR Sta.
27 Dec 50: Two members in civilian clothing were ordered to reconnoiter SEOUL while squads were sent to reconnoiter the area of the IMJIN GAN River.
28 Dec 50: PW was ordered to enter the city limits of SEOUL by following the RR from CHANGDAN and learn the strength of the UN troops in the city proper from the civilian populace. He was required to report to Hq by 1700 hrs 30 Dec 50.
2100 28 Dec 50: PW was captured while trying to cross the IMJIN River. He wore civilian clothing at time of capture.

Unit Organization:
The III NK Corps during Nov 50 was reorganized and received personnel from the former guard units of the Home Affairs Ministry.
The 10th, 11th, and 12th Div formed the III Corps. Although the Divs were formed on the triangle system the numerical designation of the Regt of Bn were not known.
The strength of the one Div was estimated at 10,000 and 2,500 for a Regt. Div or Regimental equipment unknown.

Food and other supplies were locally procured by presenting receipts for which reimbursement would later be made by the Peoples Committee.
All the troops of the Recon Co were outfitted for winter.

Morale:
The Co political officer encourages and fans the troops competitive spirit by holding classes every day during which the merits and achievements of the best is compared to those of the poorest. For those who fail to come up to standard a Kangaroo Court is held. Thus the troops discipline is maintained at the highest possible level, although 50% of the members in the Recon company have homes in the south. Although the PW states that morale is poor, it is assumed that the troop discipline is good.
