2. ASSESSMENT:
PW was not very intelligent nor very cooperative. Information considered fairly reliable.

3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:
Chronology:
21 Jul 50: PW was inducted into ROKA at SUNCHON.
28 Aug 50: PW was captured by NKA 12th Div, 2nd Regt south of UISONG (義城). PW and 7 other Korean PW were marched and rode by truck southward through KUMHWA, CHORWON to PYONGYANG. PW and over 20 other Korean PW were sent by train to CHOSAN-GUN TAEDOK-MYON (楚山郡大德面) reaching there o/a 20 Oct 1950. PW and 20 others were billeted in a farmer’s home. A total of about 35 PsW were in this village. 2nd Regt was reorganized here.
O/a 25 Nov 50: 12th Div started southward, traveling straight down the middle of KOREA over mountain trails.
O/a 22 Dec 50: Crossed 38th parallel PUP’YONG-NI area and without hesitation marched westward for SEOUL.
31 Dec 50: Captured. Entire platoon was captured or killed.

Organization and Strength:
12th Div - Composed of 3 Regts. 2nd Regt - Composed of 3 Bns.
12th Div - 9,000 men composed of men rounded up in the CHOSAN area after the general retreat. 2nd Regt - 3,000 men.

Equipment:
The heaviest equipment carried on the march were mortars. 2 mortars per Bn. An estimated 400 rds per rifle were carried.
Strength of 2nd Regt’l Medical Stretcher Bearer Plat.
Original Strength - 1 officer and 24 EMs.

4. GENERAL INFORMATION:
From 20 Oct 1950 to 25 Nov 1950 PW was a N Korean PW in CHOSAN area with some 35 other S Korean living in the farmers homes. No officers were imprisoned there.
The PsW were later mixed in with regular NKA soldiers, eating and working with them.
Units with PW integrated in them did not carry weapons.
PW’s Stretcher Plat included approx 8 S Koreans. The other S Koreans were integrated into non-fighting units.

Information on Other Units:
CCF: During the end of Nov 1950 while marching southward PW noted mountain guns being pulled by horses at night going toward HUICHON. PW saw one long line of guns but could not estimate the number. Observation made during the night.
