PW was formerly in the ROKA and when captured by the NKA was conscripted into the NKA. Since he was in the ROKA, he was not given any information. He was cooperative. Information obtained is fairly reliable.
A. Chronology:
17 Jul 49: Inducted in ROKA at CHUNGJU (淸州).
Jul - Nov 49: Received basic training at CHUNGJU (淸州) and promoted to Sgt.
Nov 49 - Jun 50: After basic training, unit was sent to ANDONG (安東) area.
5 Jun - 11 Jun 50: Returned to CHUNGJU (淸州) and had a weak rest to go home.
26 Jun 50: Went to SEOUL and then was sent to UIJONGBU (議政府) where they engaged in combat with NKA until 3 Jul 50.
3 Jul 50: Unit was sent back to TAEGU (大邱). Upon reaching there on 6 Jul 50, was sent to ANDONG (安東).
12 Aug 50: PW was taken prisoner at ANDONG (安東) and was interned for one week there.
19 Aug 50: PW was sent by train to WONJU (原州) and from WONJU (原州) walked to YANGGU (楊口). From YANGGU (楊口) walked to YONGDOK (영덕) taking mountain paths and from YONGDOK (영덕) walked to KAGGYE (江界). From KANGGYE (江界) was taken to TAE DONG MYON (大德面) stayed there for about 20 days. From ANDONG (安東) they traveled from noon until dawn.
15 Nov 50: PW was forced to join the NKA at TAE DONG MYON (大德面). He was assigned to the 12th Div, 2nd Regt, Medics Co, as a stretcher bearer.
16 Dec 50: Unit left TAE DONG MYON (大德面) by mountain paths for HONGSONG (洪城) traveling only at night.
31 Dec 50: Reached HONGSONG (洪城) and was captured o/a noon on this date.
B. Unit Organization and Strength:
12th Div - Composed of 3 Regts.
2nd Regt - Composed of 3 Bns and 1 Medics Co.
PW does not know the strength of the 12th Div and 2nd Regt, but the Medics Co was composed of 5 officers and 35 EM.
CCF: PW stated that he saw approx one Regt of CCF near KANGGYE (江界) area moving southward o/a 30 Nov 50. PW stated the weapons he saw was 3 Antiaircraft Guns, 2 self-propelled guns, 2 LMGs, 6 SMGs and rifles, carbines and hand grenades. Destination unknown.
