2. ASSESSMENT:
PW was one of the Bn staff officers but didn’t have important duties because he was not a pro-Communist. PW is very sincere and cooperative. Not recommended for further interrogation.

3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:
Chronology:
7 Aug 50 - PW was student of WONSAN University (元山大學). Conscripted into NKPA for OCS with 300 of his classmates. Received physical examination.
12 Aug 50 - Arrived SEOUL and received training as staff officer at OCS for about 2 weeks.
7 Aug 50 - Arrived TANCH’ON (丹村) at the 103rd Regt CP.
9 Sep 50 - Appointed Jr Lt. Joined 6th Bn 10 km E of UISONG (義城).
20 Sep 50 - Retreated 8 km N of UISONG (義城). Defense positions were dug.
24 Sep 50 - 200 men of 6th Bn were killed in action. PW surrendered to ROK 8th Div.

Unit Organization and Strength:
1. Original organization and strength: Security Force, 103rd Regt consisted of 6th Bn, 12th Bn, 30th Bn, 26th Bn. Each Bn had 700 to 800 men.
6th Bn consisted of 1st, 2nd, 3rd companies. Each Co had 250 men.

Unit History:
103rd Regt was made up for the most part, of S Koreans largely from SEOUL and KUNWI (軍威), However, most of the officers and NCO’s were NKPA men. This regt received no heavy weapons.

Communication:
103rd Regt used runners for communication.

Morale and Propaganda:
PW had a sound education and was an anti-Communist. When he enlisted in the NKPA, he believed that the NKPA could unify KOREA. Morale was high prior to entering combat zone. However, at the front when confronted with the true situation, morale dropped. Most of the members of the unit Just waited for a chance to desert.
