2. ASSESSMENT:
PW talked freely and his information seemed fairly reliable. However it was limited. Not recommended for further interrogation.

3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:
Chronology:
8 Apr 46: PW was inducted at HSIN-CHING (新京市), MANCHURIA. Assigned to the 3rd Bn, 3rd Regt, Security Unit, KILIN (吉林) District. Received infantry training for approx 3 months.
? Jul 46: PW was transferred to the 3rd Bn, 7th Regt, 3rd Ind Div which was located at 12km N of KILIN.
? Sep 47 : Approx 3,500 men including PW where transferred to the 29th Div, 10th Corps. The 29th Div fought against the Chinese Nationalist Army in MANCHURIA for about a year.
Aug 48 : PW was sent to the Infantry School in PEI-AN City, PEI-AN Province (北安市 北安省). Attended this school for 10 months. Approx 1,000 Chinese and 150 Koreans were in this school. The students received military and political training here.
21 Jul 49: The 150 Koreans including PW graduated from the infantry School.
23 Jul 49: Seventy-five Koreans including PW departed for N. KOREA by train. The remaining 75 Koreans went to MUKDEN (奉天), MANCHURIA.
25 Jul 49 : Seventy-five men including PW reached NANAM (羅南), N. KOREA. They were distributed to the 10th, 11th, 12th Regts and the Arty Regt of the 5th Div. PW was commissioned Jr Lt and took command of the 3rd Plt, 7th Co, 3rd Bn, 12th Regt. PW trained troops until 15 Jun 50.
21 Jun 50 : The 5th Div departed NANAM by train for YANGYANG (襄陽).
25 Jun 50 : The 5th Div crossed the 38˚ parallel. The 12th Regt took the eastern coast route. The 12th Regt engaged in battles at MAEHWA-RI (梅花里), P'YONGHAE-RI (平海里), YONGDOK (盈德) and CHANGSA-DONG (長沙洞). PW was wounded in the right arm.
? Sep 50: The 12th Regt was fighting at P'OHANG-DONG (浦項洞). There were about 600 troops (90% were replacements) in the 12th Regt.
o/a 20 Sep 50: The 12th Regt retreated to TALCH'ON-DONG (達川洞) (1220-1460). There were only about 400 troops left.
23 Sep 50 : Retreated towards CH'ONGSONG.
24 Sep 50 : PW and 7 others surrendered to ROK troops at TAEJON-DONG (大田洞).

Knowledge of other units:
PW heard from his fellow officers (o/a 23 Sep 50) that approx 450 troops remained in the 10th Regt and 500 in the 11th Regt.
