3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:Chronology:
27 Oct 49 - Volunteered for NKPA at P’YONGYANG. Received basic military training.
20 May 50 - Enrolled in NKPA 2nd OCS, P’YONGYANG. Received 2-months political training (military organization, Soviet Communist History, Leadership).
9 Jun 50 - 120 students, including PW, graduated without rank.
12 Jun 50 - PW assigned as clerk, Personnel Section, 1st Div Hq, NAMCH’ON (南川). Promoted to M/Sgt (特務上士).
25 Jun 50 - Div left NAMCH’ON via rail.
25 Jul 50 - Div arrived at SEOUL. Promoted to Lt (中尉). Div left SEOUL same day, on foot.
4 Aug 50 - Div arrived at CH’UNGJU (忠州). PW re-assigned as Political Officer, NCO Training Co, Engr Bn.
1st Div left CH’UNGJU on foot same day.
7 Aug 50 - Div arrived in SSANGGYE-DONG (쌍계동), 9 km NW of KUNWI (軍威).
10 Aug 50 - PW shot himself in the arm to get out of the combat area. Left same day for hospital.
16 Aug 50 - Arrived at Corps Hospital, CHECH’ON (堤川), Treated for wound.
10 Sep 50 - Released from hospital. Left CHECH’ON on foot to rejoin unit in area N of TAEGU (大邱).
o/a 21 Sep 50 - Arrived at SANGJU (尙州) via TANYANG (丹陽), HAMCH’ANG (咸昌). Heard news of INCH’ON Landing form troops in SANGJU. PW began to retreat in NW direction.
23 Sep 50 - Captured by ROK Army unit in small village, 12 km N of POUN.
