2. ASSESSMENT:
PW appeared to be fairly intelligent. He was cooperative, but ignorant of military matters. PW considered fairly reliable by interrogator.

3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:
Chronology:
15 Jun 50 - PW 4th year medical student, P’YONGYANG Medical College, P’YONGYANG. Conscripted with 50 3rd and 4th year medical students into NKPA at P’YONGYANG. Conscripts commissioned Lt, Medical Corps, NKPA.
20 Jun 50 - 20 med officers including PW (unassigned) left P’YONGYANG by rail.
23 Jun 50 - Arrived at CH’ORWON (鐵原), via WONSAN (元山), P’YONGGANG (平康). At CH’ORWON, PW assigned to 13th Div, 21st Inf Regt, Regtl Hospital.
24 Jun 50 - 13th Div left CH'ORWON, on foot.
26 Jun 50 - Crossed the 38° Parallel over SEOUL highway.
30 Jun 50 - 13th Div arrived at SEOUL.
18 Jul 50 - 13th Div left SEOUL, on foot.
30 Jul 50 - 13th Div arrived at CH’UNGJU (淸州) via SUWON (水原), YANGJI-Ri (陽地里). Continued in SE direction, on foot.
2 Aug 50 - 21st Inf Regt arrived at HAMCH’ANG (咸昌). Other units, unknown. Regtl Hospital followed 8 km behind 21st Inf Regt. 200 wounded from 21st Inf Regt in battle with US-ROK Army unit between MUN’GYONG (聞慶) and HAMCH’ANG.
20 Aug 50 - 21st Inf Regt arrived at NAKTONG River (PW believes at NAKTONG-Ni). Crossed river same day. Heavy casualties from artillery-mortar and US air attacks. Regtl Hospital crossed river same evening. Followed behind 21st Inf Regt, in south direction, over T’AEGU (大邱) Highway.
24 Aug - 20 Sep 50 - 21st Inf Regt engaged in battle in wooded hills along T’AEGU highway between HAJANG-DONG (下場洞) and TABU-DONG (多富洞). Regtl Hospital established in small village 1 km S of HAJANG-DONG. Div Hospital located 12 km NW of HAJANG-DONG (hearsay).
25 0800 Sep 50 - PW captured by attacking US Army troops 4 km N of TABU-DONG.

4. Medical Information:
21st Inf Regt, Regtl Hospital staffed by 3 medical officers including PW and Hospital CO (Sr Lt) plus 4 aidmen. Last observed 22 Sep 50, 1 km S of HAJANG-DONG. Hospital capacity, unlimited since village huts utilized for space. Usually 30 wounded quartered each house. During 24 Aug-20 Sep, 800 wounded troops, 21st Inf Regt, treated at Hospital. Wounded treated and sent to Div Hospital, same day. Ambulatory patients transported on trucks, unmarked, and in Red Cross marked panel ambulance trucks, to Div Hospital. Death rate among wounded troops, 3%. Hospital CO was surgeon, however no surgical facilities or instruments available.
Medical supply obtained from Div Hospital. Acute shortage of supplies. Usual treatment for light and moderate flesh wounds consisted of cleaning (disenfecting solution) and application of methyclate, covered over taped bandages. Morphine administered (infra-muscular injection) to severly wounded cases. Camphor injections were administered to shock patients. Simple splints used on fractures.
Majority of medical supplies were US manufacture, captured by NKPA in SEOUL. Some bandages of Soviet manufacture. Morphine and Camphor were of Japanese manufacture. Only two NKPA troops were sent to rear area because of mental break-down.
