2. ASSESSMENT:
Voluntarily surrendered to 2d Bn, 21st RCT. Good physical condition at interrogation. Cooperative and information obtained F-6.

3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:
a. Chronology:
1st Bn, 356th Regt arrived 800 meters N of HONGCHON River and S of Hill 524 CS 8175. As of 9 Mar 51 2d Co was approx 800 meters N of river and approx 400 meters W of small river flowing from vic Hill 524. Possibly CS 8373. 3d Co was approx 1 km W of 2d Co position. Also approx 800 meters from river. 1st Co was on high ground approx 1 km N of 2d Co positions. Bn Hq was located in vic of Hill 524.

c. Replacements:
O/a 10 Feb 51 heard 1st Bn received approx 200 replacements. Approx 20 were assigned to 2d Co, 1st Bn. Bn CO stated that these replacements were from MANCHURIA. These replacements had comparatively new uniforms with buttons in middle. A replacement stated unk number crossed YALU River o/a Jan 51. Majority were former members of CNA.

d. Composition of Units:
40th Army composed of 118th, 119th and 1 unk Div. 119th Div composed of 335th 336th and 337th Regt. Heard an arty Bn and Security Co attached to 113the Div. Code name of 40th Army is "YENJI BU" (believed to be place name).

e. Intentions:
To defend general area of Hill 524. No knowledge of relieving the 38th Army.

f. Morale:
Morale low due to lack of food and necessary supplies.
Heard rumors that other units suffered heavy losses. Promises of air support and equipment never materialized.

g. Leaflets:
Read leaflets and believed the contests. Had leaflet on person when surrendered. Reaction of group as a whole unk due to the fact that they are afraid to discuss it.

h. Broadcast:
Heard broadcast on 2 different occasions, however, they were not audible.
