5 Mar 51, deserted his unit at DS0656 (Hill 505) and hid in village (DS 0756). 081200 Mar 51, surrendered to advancing 7th Marines with safe conduct leaflet. Talked freely, cooperative.
a. Mission:
66th Corps was to take WONJU, but plan altered to defend present position and stop all UN Forces from advancing N.

1 Dec 49 - PW, in CNA, was captured by CCF.
12 Dec 49 - Conscripted into CCF.
20 Nov 50 - 66th Corps arrived ANTUNG, MANCHURIA.
21 Nov 50 - Arrived YANGSI, traveling via train.
9 Dec 50 - Arrived near SUNCHON. Here 196th Div separated from 66th Cops.
2 Jan 51 - 196th Div crossed 38th Parallel and contacted ROK Force. Battled for seven hours and retreated to N KOREA. Frostbite was prevalent. Rested 40 days.
9 Feb 51 - 196th Div crossed 38th Parallel.
22 Feb 51 - Arrived HONGCHON (DS 0171). Here 588th Regt separated from Div and headed S. 587th Regt was on E flank of 588th Regt. 588th Regt was reserve.
27 Feb 51 - 196th Div Hq and 586th Regt moved to vicinity of Hill 505 (DS 0656). PW Co(2d) was to defend Hill 505 (DS 0656).
4 Mar 51 - Heard 196th Div Hq and 586th Regt moved back to Hill 639 (DS 0860) or (DS 0960).
5 Mar 51 - PW deserted his unit at DS 0656 and hid in village (DS 0756).
8 Mar 51 - Surrendered to advancing 7th Marines with safe conduct leaflet.
