PW was suffering from shrapnel wound in right foot. Has of average intelligence and cooperative. Information considered fairly reliable. Recommended for further interrogation.
a. Chronology:
18 Mar 50 PW was drafted into the CCF. 10 Jan 51 Regt of reserves left SONGYANG via rail and arrived at KUCHAN, KOREA 15 Jan 51. Crossed the YALU River at MANPOJIN o/a 13 Jan 51. Crossed the 38th Parallel o/a 25 Jan 51. Arrived approx 1km N of SEOUL (exact location u/k), presumably a replacement center o/a 27 Jan 51. The Regt was divided into 3 Bn. One bn each was assigned to 112th, 113th and 114th Div respectively as replacements. PW Bn was attached to the 341st Regt of 114th Div which was in that immediate area. PW heard from officer at the replacement center that the 38th Army CP was 4km N of this replacement center (exact location u/k). The 341st Regt left outskirt of SEOUL 1 Feb 51 and crossed the HAN River 2 Feb 51. Night of 5 Feb 51 the Regt CP was set up approx 4km N of place of capture (CS 670425). Immediately the 9th Co was sent to occupy mountain (place of capture) and were ordered to dig in at this location. The 9th Co was to be relieved by the 8th Co in a few days. Arrived at place of capture on 060200 Feb 51 and approx. 1 hour later received hvy shelling before completing their foxholes. 30 out of 80 men were killed (9th Co) and numerous others were wounded. PW wounded on right food and was unable to retreat with the 9th Co. 071030 Feb 51 PW was captured by “K” Co, 3rd Bn, 21st RCT.

9th Co: 2 x 60mm mortars, 5 LMG, rest of personnel armed with refiles. No arty pieces seen.

Food procured locally. 100 rd ammo ea man, 800 rd ea LMG.
e. UN Leaflet: Saw numerous leaflets on ground but was not permitted to read. Heard no broadcast.
