ASSESSMENT:

CHRONOLOGY:
6 Dec 30 - Born in HAMGYONG PUKTO, MYONGCHON-GUN, AGAN-MYON, PAERYONG-DONG (咸鏡北道 明川郡 阿間面 背令洞 一0七六).
Apr 38 - Mar 43 - Attended 5 years’ primary school here and later went to middle school here.
Apr 43 - Went to YENCHI (延吉), MANCHURIA. Graduated primary school here.
Apr 44 - Sep 44 - Was at HOLUNG-HSIEN (和龍縣), MANCHURIA, where PW helped relatives farming.
Oct 44 - Apr 45 - Returned to place of birth.
Apr 45 - Aug 45 - Went to NAJIN (羅津), KOREA. Worked as an errand boy for the International Beer Co.
Sep 45 - Mar 50 - Returned to birthplace, attended high school here.
Mar 50 - May 50 - Went to HUNGUI (洪儀), KOREA, where PW worked as a railroad laborer.
Jul 50 - Returned to his birthplace where he entered the NK Army.

2. TRANSPORTATION & COMMUNICATION
RAILROAD LINE AND BRIDGE UNDER CONSTRUCTION  HONGUI (洪儀)

Location of bridge: (See Sketch)
12 km SE of the HONGUI RR Station and 35 km NE of the NAJIN (羅津) RR Station.
Observation:
Approx 6 km of RR track have been completed from HONGUI RR Station to the SE.
PW worked on the construction of an extension of this line which was to cross the TEMEN River, approx. 12 miles southeast of the HONGUI RR Station and 35 km NE of the NAJIN (羅津) RR Station.
The Russian half of the bridge was being built by the Russians while the Korean half was being built by the Koreans.
About 8000 Koreans worked here on three shifts of 8 hours each.
PW was never close enough to the bridge to be able to draw a sketch of it.
The bridge was to be about 200 m long.
About 1 km north of this steel bridge was a concrete bridge which connected the highway between RUSSIA and KOREA.
According to hearsay, the plane for the steel bridge were drawn up in 1948 and construction was started in 1949. This bridge was supposed to be completed by June 1950.
PW believes that the railroad from KOREA was connected with the railroad from VLADIVOSTOK.
The name of the project was HONGUI RR Project (洪儀鐵道工事).
