Uneducated, poor judgement of distance. Reliability – Poor.
23 Jun 33 – Born in MANCHURIA.
7 Jan 48 – Joined the People’s Liberation Army at HUNCHUN (琿春), MANCHURIA. Did not have any military training. Assigned to 15th Div of the CCF.
15 Jan 48 – Was transported to MUTANGCHIANG (牡丹江) with 1,000 other soldiers for the purpose of combating the guerrilla forces of the Chinese Nationalist Army
21 Jan 48 – 22 Jan 48 – Admitted to a field hospital in MUTANGCHIANG (牡丹江) because he was weak and underage.
27 Jan 48 – 12 Oct 48 – Assigned to HSIAN (西安) Hospital where he worked as a farmer in the Production Unit (SEISAN TAI) which was a part of the hospital.
2 Nov 48 - 21 Jan 49 - Arrived TANGSHAN (唐山), CHINA where he worked in the 15 corps, Rear Echelon Medical Unit, 26th Hospital, as a dairyman caring for 8 milk cows.
Jan 49 - Jun 49 - Worked as a nurse in small villages. (Names unknown.)
5 Jun 59 - Sep 49 - General hospital work in NANCHANG (南昌), CHINA.
10 Sep 49 - 12 Oct 49 - Hospital work in HANKOU (漢口), CHINA.
5 Nov 49 - Feb 50 - Work in temporary CCF hospital at HWANGCHOU (廣州), CHINA.
18 Mar 50 - Arrived at SINUIJU, KOREA.
HUNCHUN (琿春) MANCHURIA

Surrounding area mountainous, with a river running on the southern part of the town.
RIVER:
The banks were at a 45° angle. The north bank was built of rocks while the south bank was a mixture of dirt and rock. The width of the river was about 80 m, the depth about 50 cm. The bottom of the river consisted of pebbles.
The river freezes from Nov to Mar.
CLIMATE:
Snow starts in Oct and ends in Mar. Snow piles up from 80 cm to 1 m.
The rainy season lasts from Apr to Sep. The rainfall in the area is not sufficient for farming, so an irrigation system had to be built.
Various types of vegetables and the following crops are raised: Rice, bean, corn, barely, etc.
The soil of this area is black.
HUNCHUN TEXTILE MILL HUNCHUN (琿春) MANCHURIA

OBSERVATION:
PW observed the mill from the read next to the factory when visiting his friend. Also he tried to find work in the mill several times but could not get a job. PW heard most of his information from a friend who worked in this mill.

(1) Worker's Billet:
About 300 people who worked in the factory lived here. One-third were Manchurians and two-thirds were Koreans. (Both sexes.) Nobody came from the outside to work in this factory.
The building was of brick with a slate gable type roof.
The height was about 4 m but PW does not know the other dimensions.
(3) Textile Factory and (5) Cotton Thread Factory:
Both buildings were about the same as the (1) worker's billet. PW does not know about the interior.
(2) Finished Good Warehouse:
This building was also made of brick with a gable-type slate roof. Dimensions unknown.
(4) Cotton Refinery (7) Latrine and (8) Mess Hall:
These buildings were all of wood construction with a tarpapered gable type roof.
(9) Underground Provision Warehouse:
PW saw some workers transporting foodstuff into an entrance in the ground therefore arrived at a conclusion that it was being used as a warehouse.

Unknown.
REMARKS:
PW heard from his friend that the materials produced here were transported to another factory (location unknown) where this material was into uniforms for the CCF.
The mill was guarded by 4 or 5 armed Korean guards posted at the entrance.
The workers were given one day off per week.
NANCHANG (南昌) AIRFIELD NANCHANG (南昌) CHINA

OBSERVATION:
PW worked in the hospital which was located in the Billet Area of the airfield.
LOCATION:
3.5 km SW of NANCHANG (南昌) CHINA.
PW saw seven single seat conventional fighter planes on this airfield. No bombers were observed. The field was equipped for night landings.
DESCRIPTION:

(1) Hangar:
The walls were made of glass with a MICA arched roof. The 2nd story part of the hangar had a gable type MICA roof. An entrance was located on top of the 2nd story roof.
PW saw a couple of fighter planes inside this hangar. (PW believes the planes were of Japanese make.)
(2) Airplane Repair Shops:
There were 4 buildings in a row. Each was made of concrete with an arched concrete roof. (30 m x 8 m x 3 m.)
(3) Unknown:
The building was made of concrete to a height of about 2 m and the rest was made of glass. The roof was flat. (15 m x 15 m x 7 m.)
(4) Billet Area (80 m x 80 m.):
There were 11 buildings in this area and these were being used as a temporary hospital.
REMARKS:
The entrance was guarded by two armed soldiers of the CCF.
