PW was cooperative, however, due to his lack of knowledge in Japanese and because of his poor memory, he is not recommended for further interrogation.
a. The 8th Ind regt consisted of 3 Bns (approx 320 men, each). Each Bn consisted of 3 Cos (approx 80 men, each) and one Hv Wpn Co (approx 80 men).
b. 8th Ind Regtl Hqs was located at MAJON NI (CT3331) 12 Dec 50; the 3rd Bn Hqs was located 3 km E of CHOKKO-RI (CT270255) and the 3rd Co Hqs was located in CHOKKO-RI. 121600 Dec, PW, and 5 others, were ordered, by the Co CO, to watch the road between SIBYON NI (BT9942) and YONCHON (CT3117). The point at which they were to watch was located approx 2 km N of CHOKKO-RI. Their mission was to report troop movements to the Co Hqs. 122100 Dec, PW, and the 5 others observed ROK troops marching south, whereupon the PW, and three men, surrendered while the two others ran away.
c. PW was told by his Co CO that under the II Corps were: 8th Ind Regt, 4th and 9th Divisions. PW did not know their whereabouts. PW did not see CCF troops nor did he ever see leaflets of any kind.
d. 3rd Co had approx 20 small arms (SMGs, Carbines, Russ & Jap Rifles). Each man had about 10 rds of ammo. 3rd Co had approx 15 Hand Grenades.
e. The 8th Ind Regt, 3rd Bn CO was Maj KIM, Sa Am (金士岩), AGE 35.
f. PW ate an average of 3 meals, daily. Food was received from Bn Hqs. However, when the Bn Hqs did not issue any food, they took from the people of the village.
