Chronology:
1 Mar 48: PW volunteered into Ind Div, 4th Regt, Guard Co which was a unit of the CCF. The 4th Regt was stationed at T’IENKANG (天崗). PW duty was guarding the regimental headquarters.
Apr 48: The 4th Regt moved to HSIAO HO LUNG (小和竜).
Jun 48: The 4th Regt then moved to SUCHILAT’UN (蘇家屯). Here PW duty consisted of Assigning farming land to the Local people.
Aug 49: The regiment marched from SANHAIKUAN (上海関), CHINA to HANK’OU (漢口), CHINA
Sep 49: The regiment arrived at HUNAN (湖南), CHINA after a one month march from HANK’OU. Here PW received infantry training for about 6 months.
17 Mar 50: With a group of 2,500 Korean troops who were stationed in various units of the CCF in MANCHURIA, informant was transferred to the 105th Armored Div, Mechanized Inf Regt (Code No 603), Rear Echelon Guard Plat.
D/U Jun 50: PW mechanized Inf Regt arrived at KWANSONG(関城). After 5 days this regiment went into battle and they advanced to CHINDONG-Ni (鎭洞里) with the loss of about half of the men in the regiment. At CHINDONG-Ni, they were heavily bombed by US planes and more than half of the men were killed. The unit became disorganized and the PW escaped to HYOPCH’ON(陜川) and surrendered to South Korean police.
Military Academy, HARBIN, MANCHURIA (Hearsay Feb 48)
Informant heard that a CCF Military Academy reported was located in HARBIN City. Only men of good physical condition and above average intelligence were admitted to this school. Most of the graduates of the school became 1st Lt. The school started operation after the end of the World War (Ⅱ).
Infantry Training, HUNAN (湖南), CHINA (Obs Sep 49 - Feb 50):
While informant was stationed with the 4th Regt of an independence Division in HUNAN. He was engaged in infantry training for approximately 5 months. This training consisted of attacking a pillbox, crossing rivers and other infantry exercises such as patrolling. The training was conducted in company size units on local mountains. Live ammunition was not used. Troops were armed with old rifles and mortars. Some antiaircraft guns were seen.
