PW left MANCHURIA in Sep 46 and stayed around his home when the war ended until he departed for KOREA. He was cooperative and talked freely. Reliability - fair.

INDUSTRIAL DISTRICT
NUKDEN, MANCHURIA

The industrial district of MUKDEN was located to the east of MUKDEN RR station. This area was known as the “TIEH HIS CHU” (鉃西區) when the Japanese occupied this city. It covered a large area.
PW recalls that the larger factories here were “HIDACHI” ELECTRIC WORKS, “SUMIYOSHI” METAL INDUSTRY. “TOKYO SHIBAURA” ELECTRIC CO, MUKDEN CO, and “FUJI” ELECTRIC CO. There were other large factories but PW did not know what type of factories they were.
A few days after V-J day Russian troops entered MUKDEN and guarded all these important plants and looted a large amount of machinery from these various factories. PW heard that the Russians left MUKDEN city around JUN ’46 (See sketch).

While attending school PW passed by this airfield when the class went on an excursion trip. This airfield was located on the NE outskirts of the city.

PW heard that an arsenal, an aircraft manufacturing plant known as the “MANSHU AIRCRATR CO”; a government mint were located on the ENE suburbs of MUKDEN City.
