2. ASSESSMENT:
Cooperative.

3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:
a. Chronology:
PW conscripted at CHONGJU 25 Sep 50. Assigned to a unit, designation u/k, strength - 2,000, on the same day. Unit left CHONGJU 25 Sep 50 and arrived KITTUN RI, SOPAEK SAN on/about 30 Oct 50.
Re-assigned to 505th Regt, I Corps, at KITTUN RI o/a 3 Nov 50. 505th Regt a guerrila unit and was on it’s way to south and PW a South Korean was transferred to this unit. His original unit headed towards North (PENANG), o/a 6 Nov 50 and arrived ODAE SAN 8 Nov 50. I Corps stayed in ODAE SAN area a few days then departed south and arrived at an area about 4 Km North of YONGCHUN o/a 23 Dec 50.
200 guerrilla members of 505th and 507th Regt, I Corps, attacked the YONGCHUN MYON Youth Corps at dawn 27 Dec 50 and captured 30 members of the Youth Corps. Captured Youth Corps members later integrated into various units in the I Corps.
I Corps departed YONGCHUN area o/a 29 Dec 50 to a south and arrived GUMPYONG NI, CHILSON MOYN, KIPSN GUN, CHUNCHONG PUKTO 7 Feb 51.
PW, upon arriving GAMPYONG NI, became sick and dropped out and was captured by a ROK unit on the same day.

b. Mission
Heard from KIM “Hun Bok”, leader of the “Hun Bok” unit, about 20 days ago, that the tactical objective of the I Corps is to proceed to CHIRI SAN and to carry out guerrilla warfare.

c. Organization and personnel
Original strength of I Corps at KITTUN RI, SOPACK SAN, was 1,500, however, strength at GAMPYONG RI was 1,000.
I Corps composed of the following units:

505th Regt (Hun Sok Unit): Personnel - 80
506th Regt (Han Il Unit): 〃 - 100
507th Regt: Personnel - 100
508th Regt: 〃 - 150
People’s Brigade: 〃 - 100
505th Regt composed of 1st and 2d units with estimated strength of 40 each.
There were about 35 female guerrilla members in I Corps. 500 casualties. Causes of casulty is given as follows:
UN Air Attacks: 30 KIA - a large number WIA (5 attacks)
UN Artillery Fires:
Disease: Frostbite, flu and etc.

d. Weapons: I Corps weapons were given as follows:
482mm Mortars (40 rd) one mortars not operative.
160mm Mortar (40 rd)
5HMG (300 rd ea)
7LMG (1,000 rd ea)
400US M-1 Rifle & US Carbines (100 rd ea)
u/kRussian 1891/30 Rifles (200 rd ea)
 Every one out of five guerrillas armed with 1 hand grenade.
