PW was very cooperative during interrogation and information seems fairly reliable but due to movement this interrogation was discontinued. He is recommended for further interrogation.
a. 39th Army was composed of the 115th, 116th, and 117th Divs. The 116th Div was composed of the 346th, 347th, and 348th Regts. The 117th Div was composed of the 349th, 350th, and 351st Regts. The following code numbers were used: 39th Army (55), 117th Div (3 Bn), 350th Regt (8 Co), 2nd Bn (2nd Plat), 6th Co (7th Plat). The 350th Regt was composed of the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Rifle Bns, 3rd Btry, 4th Btry, and Regt’l Guard Co. The 2nd Bn was composed of the 4th, 5th, and 6th Rifle Cos, Hvy Weapons Co, Medic Plat, Sig Plat, and Supply Plat. Each Rifle Co composed of 3 rifle plats. Each rifle plat was composed of 3 rifle sqds.
b. O/a 14 Nov 50, the 117th Div withdrew from PAKCH’ON (YE-2200) to vicinity of TAECHON (YE-1322) by passing through CHANGSIN-DONG(YE1905), UNSOK-TONG (YE-1311) and to Hill 240 (YE-0614). There the unit stayed for about 10 days. During the period of 10 days, the unit prepared the defense line digging foxholes alongside the main road. O/a 24 Nov 50, the 117th Div, left Hill 240. 241900 Nov 50, the 115th 116th, and 117th Div assembled at TAECH’ON and the entire 39th Army left TAECH’ON 2100 hours the same day. The Army travelled through SANGHYON-DONG (YE 2324), vic MADU-SAN (YE-2629). At TONG HUNG-DONG (YE-3327) the 117th Div separated from the 115th and 116th Div, and travelled over mountains and arrived 8 km SE of OBONG-SAN (YE-3324) on 27 Nov. The 117th Div Hq was located at a point 1.5 km NE of OBONG-SAN and the 350th Regt was located a 6 km SE of OBONG-SAN. The night of 26 Nov the 115th Div and 116th Div advanced southward and arrived at a point 4 km NE of YONGSONG-DONG (YE-3521) which was the left flank of the 117th Div, after occupying UNSAN (YE-3928) and IPSOKHA-DONG (YE-3925). PW also stated the main line of resistance of the 117th Div was from a point (YE-3022) to a point 8 km SE of OBONG-SAN.
c. The immediate objective of the 117th Div was to attack YONGBYON (YE-4011) the night of 27 Nov 50. The main objective of the 117th Div was to occupy P’YONGYANG via ANJU (YD-2888) and SUNCHON (YD-5367).
