2. ASSESSMENT:
PW was cooperative, and his information may be considered fairly reliable.

3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:
Chronology:
3 Oct 50 – PW conscripted into the 5th Co, 1st Bn, 2nd Regt, 12th Div as KP at SUNCH’ON (順川).
22 Oct 50 – PW deserted his unit after US paratroopers landed in SUNCH’ON. His unit scattered into the mountains.
24 Oct 50 – Pw arrived at his sister’s home in YONWON (永元).
27 Oct 50 – PW was captured by NK Army 6th Division which was retreating north. PW heard that the 6th Division was in SOBUK Mountains before their withdrawal.
30 Oct 50 - 6th Division withdrew to AECHON (愛川) where he was transferred to the 12th Division. PW believes that there were approx 700 men in 6th Division when he was transferred to 12th Division.
2 Nov 50 - 1st Bn marched to a mountain 40 km north to pick up clothing. PW stated that there were sufficient clothes for 2,500 men.
9 Nov 50 – PW’s battalion arrived at KAECH’ON (价川) and remained there for 3 days. PW heard that 12th Division Headquarters and 2nd Regiment were located in CHAKANGDO (慈江道) area.
12 Nov 50 - 1st battalion left KAECH’ON(价川).
7 Jan 51 – PW’s battalion arrived at WONJU (原州). Later PW heard that 12th Division Headquarters and 2nd Regiment were following behind his battalion.
PW’s unit engaged US forces. Most of the men were captured and few escaped. Before his unit arrived in WONJU (6 Jan 51) PW had seen 3 US PsW at HONGCHON (洪川). PW believes these US PsW were having their breakfast at approx 0530. Pw also saw 20 ROK PsW marching North near KANGWONDO (江原道).

Psychological Warfare:
Did you surrender voluntarily? If so, why?
Answer: Yes. PW believed that was the only way of living, and PW was afraid of war.

Morale:
Morale was extremely low, because of insufficient food, cold weather, and lack of equipment. PW stated that most of the men hated NK forces.
