ATIS INTERROGATION REPORT NO. 4437

FIELD REPORT (ADVATIS 0168)　30 November 1950

Informant was cooperative but vague. Reliability - Poor.

4 Jul 49 - Volunteered into Northeast People’s Liberation Army (東北人民解放軍) at TUNGHSIACONIAOHO-TUN (東小蚊河屯), MANCHURIA. Assigned to the Independent 5th Div, 3d Bn, 1st co, 1st Plat, 2d Sqd, at CHIUCHAN (■坫), MANCHURIA.

4 Jul 49 - Nov - 49 - Engaged in basic training.

Nov 49 - Jan 50 - Was a patient in the hospital.

Feb 50 - Mar 50 - Was with the Supply Section (後■部), a detail unit for persons with bad health, at HANKOW (漢口), CHINA. (Approximately 300 men)

10 Mar 50 - Koreans were gathered at CHENGCHOU (鄭州), CHINA, and formed into the Independent 15th Div and sent to P’YONGYANG (平壤), KOREA.

Approximately 6 km SE of the HANKOW RR Station.

Observation:

Twice while walking on the road 5 m SW of the oil tanks.

Area:

About 100 m x 300 m enclosed by a 3 m-high barbed-wire fences.

Description:

There were 4 oil tanks 5 m in dia and 5 m high, spaced 3 m apart in single row.

Entrance:

There was one entrance at the north side of enclosure.

Guard:

There was one guard with a rifle at the entrance.

Location:

Approx 8 km SW of HANKOW RR Station.

Observation:

Once in Mar 50.

Area:

This airfield covered a rectangular area of approx. 1500 x 2000 m. Enclosed by a barbed wire fence 2 m high.

Runway:

PW observed one 10 m x 1000 m concrete runway running east to west.

Entrance:

One entrance at the south and of the field.

Guard:

One guard with a rifle at the entrance and one moving guard inside the enclosure.

PW observed 5 two-motor transport planes, all of same type. No hangar observed.
