3. CHRONOLOGY:
Aug 48: Inducted into CCF at YENCHI (延吉) MANCHURIA. Assigned to the 4th Field Army, 13th Army Gp, 38th Army, 114 Div, 33d Regt, 3d Bn, 7th Co, 1st Plat, 3d Sqd. The 4th Field Army former Headquarters (1948) was in HARBIN. The 13th Army Group former Headquarters were in CHANG-CHUN (長春). The 35th Army former Headquarters was in YENCHI.
May 49: 13th Army Group moved to HANKOU, CHINA.
Mar 50: 400 Koreans serving in above unit, ordered to go to KOREA to aid the NKA.
Jul 50: Arrived in SINUIJU, and proceeded to P’YONGYANG by rail.
6 Jul 50: PW and 260 others assigned to the 603d Regt.

4. ECONOMIC:
ARMS AND AMMUNITION PLANT   MUKDEN (奉天) MANCHURIA

LOCATION
MUKDEN Arms and Ammunition Plant is located 7 km N of the main RR Station.
OBSERVATION
2 visits to plant in Apr 50.
DESCRIPTION
Plant area is 3 x 2½ km in size. There are 6 large plant buildings and many smaller wooden buildings.
#1 Plant (see sketch) - one story, brick, 900 x 400 m, flat roof, and 2 large smoke stacks. This plant manufactured only 82 mm mortars (US Type).
#2 Plant (see sketch) - one story, brick, flat roof building, 200 x 80 m, with one large smoke stack. The plant manufactures only Rocket Launchers (US Type)
#3 Plant (see sketch) - one story, brick, flat roof building, 200 x 80 m, with one large smoke stack. This plant manufactures .30, .45 and .50 calibre ammo; 60, 82 and 120 mm mortar shells, and 75 mm pack howitzer shells (US Type).
#4 Plant (see sketch) - one story, brick, flat roof building, 200 x 80 m with a large smoke stack. Manufacture 60 mm mortars only (US Type).
#5 Plant (see sketch) - an underground ammo storage dump, cement built, 400 x 70 m. All ammo and powder are stored here.
#6 Plant (see sketch) - Plant is a one story, brick, flat roof building 200 x 80 m, with a smoke stack.
CAPACITY
Largest Gun and Ammo Plant in MUKDEN and was considered one of the largest in all of MANCHURIA. 9,000 employees - (mainly Manchurians). Russians act as advisers and engineers. 5 Russians observed.

5. FORMER CCF UNITS:
7th Co, 3d Bn, 33d Regt, 114th Div, 38th Army, 13th Army Gp, 4th Field Army.
Equipment to the 7th Co consisted of 80 x 38 cal Japanese Rifles; 3 LMG (US); 3 LMG (Japanese) 9 x 45 cal SMG. Stationed in HANKOU (漢口).
Equipment in 3d Bn consisted of 7 x 30 cal LMG (US); 11 LMG (JAP); 27 x 45 cal SMG (US); 3 HMG (US); 3 HMG (JAP); 3 x 60 mm Mortars (US); 8 horses, Stationed in HANKOU.
Equipment in the 33d Regt consisted of 8 x 82 mm Mortars (US).
Engaged in battle against the Nationalist Army in TIENCHING (天津) for one day.
PW unit, was in HANKOU, CHINA when he departed for KOREA.
When PW departed from his unit, only he and 400 Korean Nationals were sent to KOREA. The Chinese Nationals remained in HANKOU.
The CCF have security units in addition to their regular troops. Security Unit duties were to occupy captured toms and to guard military installations.
The Army notified the civilian authorities of the number of men needed for military service and the mayors of each town and village were given a quota to fill.
Officers (single): 1500 Yuan (Chinese) and up
Officers (married): 1500 Yuan (Chinese)and food and quarters
Sgt: 60 Yuan (Chinese)
Pvt: 30 Yuan (Chinese)
If troops were in MANCHURIA, a Pvt would draw 70,000 Yuan a month.
PW saw only two (2) tanks (Jap make).
Former Nationalist soldiers made up the 42d Army and they were sent to KOREA. The regular CCF have not as yet come to KOREA. Only officers and NCO that are in the 42d Army are regular CCF members. All equipment captured from the Nationalist Army is utilized by the CCF.
During the summer months, the CCF is fed 3 meals daily. During winter months they are fed 2 meals daily.
Summer clothing is issued twice a year. Each EM is authorized 2 uniforms. During the winter they are issued 2 heavy winter outfits.
