ASSESSMENT:
PW was cooperative, spoke without hesitation and had good memory. Of average intelligence. Reliability - Fair.

CHRONOLOGY:
15 Sep 46 Conscripted into the Manchurian People's Liberation Army at IMIENPO (45°03'N-128°06'E). PW was a medic assigned to the Rear Field Hospital of the 49th Army, 145th Div.
10 Feb 47 The above hospital moved to HO-YEN (44°48'N -125°52'E) (後監).
18 Aug 47 Moved to KAI-YUAN-HSIEN (42°37'N -124°06'E) (開原縣).
18 Oct 47 Moved to SH'UI-CH'UAN (41°52'N -123°39'E) (水泉).
10 Feb 48 Moved to TA-T'UN (43°47'N -125°10'E) (大屯).
10 Aug 48 Moved to SH'UI-CH'UAN (41°52N -123°39'E) (水泉). Heard from his superior officer that the name of the Manchurian People's Liberation Army was changed to the Chinese People's Liberation Army.
4 Jan 49 Moved into the vicinity of TIENCHIN (天津), CHINA.
28 Aug 49 Moved to CHENGCHOU (鄭州).
13 Apr 50 PW was transferred to the NK 7th Div, 1st Regt, 1st Bn, Aid Station and sent to WONSAN (元山).
Jun 50 Unit fought near the 38th Parallel.
Aug 50 Moved to P'OHANG-DONG (浦項洞) Area.
12 Sep 50 Captured at ANGANG (安康) Area.

2 - TRANSPORTATION AND COMMUNICATIONS
Post Office               IMIEN PO (45°03'N -128°06'E)

LOCATION
This post office was located about 300 m south of the IMIEN PO Railroad Station and immediately south of TACHIH Street (大直街).
OBSERVATION
PW came to this post office occasionally during the above period to mail some letters.
DIMENSIONS
It was a brown colored brick building with inclined roof measuring approximately 8 x 8 x 5m.
GENERAL INFORMATION:
Approximately 10-13 postal clerks were observed here. Ordinary mail and registered mail were handled at this post office. It cost one Manchurian yen to mail an ordinary letter. Parcel post rates were unknown since PW did not mail any packages during the above period.

Telegraph & Telephone Exchange Office  IMIEN PO (45°03'N -128a°06'E)

LOCATION
This office was located approximately 300 m south of the IMIEN PO Railroad Station and immediately west of the above-mentioned post office.
OBSERVATION
PW name to this office occasionally during the above period send telegrams
DIMENSIONS
It was also a brown colored brick building with inclined roof measuring approximately 8 x 8 x 5 m.
GENERAL INFORMATION
Approximately 5 female switchboard operators and 7 - 8 telegraph office workers were observed. PW believes that this switchboard was non-automatic since operators were observed connecting each call. PW on few occasions received ordinary telegrams from HARBIN, and it usually took about 5 - 6 hours before they reached him.

5 - ECONOMIC
T.E. Power Plant            IMIEN PO (45°03'N -128a°06'E)

LOCATION
This power plant was located about 500 m south of the IMIEN PO Railroad Station and 200 m south of TACHIH Street (大直街)
OBSERVATION
PW Observed this power plant frequently during the above period from an approximately distance of 30 m. Observation was made while walking to and from lake.
DIMENSIONS
It was a one-story red brick building with gable-type galvanized iron roof measuring about 20 x 20 x 5 m. Two steel chimneys measuring approximately 40 cm in diameter protruded about 10 m above the roof. The total ground area occupied by this plant measured approximately 200 m square and it was enclosed by a barbed-wire fence 2 m high. A huge stockpile of coal was observed within the plant area. This is tlhe only power plant observed within this city.

Locomotive Roundhouse         IMIEN PO (45°03'N -128a°06'E)

LOCATION
This roundhouse was located about 200 m east of the IMIEN PO Railroad Station and 100 m north of the RAILROAD Street (鉃道街)
OBSERVATION
PW observed the exterior of this roundhouse occasionally from an approximately distance of 100 m. Observation was made while walking to and from river.
DIMENSIONS
It was a red brick building with flat-top galvanized iron roof measuring approximately 10 x 50 x 8 m. A scull chimney measuring approximately 30 cm in diameter protruded about 3 m above the roof.
GENERAL INFORMATION
Approximately 8 - 9 railroad tracks extended into this roundhouse. There were 20 locomotive storage spaces situated within this roundhouse. A locomotive turntable was located in the approximately center in front of this roundhouse. An average of 7 - 8 locomotives were observed within this roundhouse.

Woodwork Shop            IMIEN PO (45°03'N -128a°06'E)

LOCATION
This woodwork shop was located about 1 km east of IMIEN PO Railroad Station and between RAILROAD Street and CHUNGANG Street(中央街).
OBSERVATION
PW observed the exterior of this woodwork shop occasionally during the above period from an approximate distance of 50 m. Observation was made while walking to and from river.
DIMENSIONS
There were 2 brick building with gable-type galvanized iron roofs and 5-6 wooden buildings with gable-type roofs covered with roofing paper. The former measured about 10 x 10 x 5 m and the latter measured about 20 x 20 x 7 m each. The total ground area occupied by this woodwork shop measured approximately 200 x 300 m and was enclosed by a barb-wire fence 2 m high.
GENERAL INFORMATION
Limber and railroad ties were piled within this barb-wire enclosure but details were unknown.
FORMER CHINESE COMMUNIST Unit
See attached chart on the organization of an Army Group. PW was a Medical Corps man attached to the 145th Inf Div of the 49th Army.
LOCATION OF UNIT AT TIME OF DEPARTURE FOR KOREA
PW heard from his superior officer that the 145th Div was enroute to KHAILIN(桂林) o/a 10 Feb 50.
UNIT COMPLEMENT TRANSFERRED TO KOREA
Approximately 180 Koreans attached to the 145th Div were transferred to KOREA.
PAY OF PERSONNEL
The pay scale of the Medical Corps men differed according to their technical skill and the lowest paid man received about 600 Manchurian yen while the highest paid Medical Corps man received 1,000 Manchurian yen. The chief of the field hospital received about 2,000 Manchurian yen per month.
RATION AND CLOTHING
Food was plentiful, although of poor quality. Only minimum amount of clothing was issued per man.
PROPAGANDA
Political officers gave lectures to the men an average of 4 - 5 times per month.
