2. ASSESSMENT:
Cooperative, but of low intelligence. His judgment of measurements distances, and his memory, were poor. Reliability - Poor.

Chronology:
10 May 46: Conscripted into the CCF; received basic artillery training using Japanese "Type 90" Guns at YENCHI (延吉) and MULENGHSIEN (穆棱縣). After this basic training, PW was traveling night time and, when not in combat was employed in farming in the country. He never knew t'he exact place where he was staying while in MANCHURIA.
Jan 49: PW was sent to CHINA from a place which, according to hearsay was close to FUSHUN. The only town PW remembered in CHINA was SHANHSI (山西). His unit stopped there to repair their artillery pieces after they captured the town in July 49. Arrived in an unidentified small village in Dec 49 and worked as a farmer here for 3 months. Heard from fellow soldiers that this village was near NANCHANG (南昌).
Mar 50: PW and approximately 300 fellow Korean soldiers left this villages by train. At CHONJU (全州), 1200 Korean soldiers joined this group.
11 Apr 50: Arrived in WONSAN (元山). He was on a closed freight car during this travel and could not carry out any observation.

Miscellaneous:
The town of SHANHSI was under the control of YEN, Suk Shan (燕錫山) before it was captured and PW heard from the Chinese living here that YEN, Suk Shan fled the town by air before it was captured. The plant where the unit artillery pieces were repaired was strictly guarded by MP and all windows were covered by black curtains. Repairs made by 3 Japanese engineers (names unknown). PW was not allowed to enter any building witin this plant area. However, he heard the sound of large and small hammers pounding metal, and heard sounds made by machinery and motors.
