3. CHRONOLOGY:
25 Oct 26: Born in CHILIN-SHENG, YENCHI-HSIEN, LAOTOUKOU LAOHSI HSIANG (吉林省延吉縣老■頭■■■) of Korean extraction. Attended 6 yr primary school and 3 yr of middle school in CHILIN-SHENG, YENCHI-HSIEN, LUNGCHING, TIENGHENG Middle school (吉林省延吉縣能井市天成中學校).
Jul 46: Discontinued school because of financial reason.
Oct 46: Employed by LAOTUXOU coal mine for 6 months, after which he was employed by father in a vegetable market.
23 Jul 47: Conscripted in the CCF in LAOTUKOU (老頭講), MANCHURIA. Assigned to CHILIN Army District, EMPIEN Sub dist, 3d Ind TAN, 3d WINGCHUNGCHILIEN 3d PAI, 9th MIN (吉林軍區 ■■分獨立三團三營■建二■). Strength 2,500 men.
Jan 48: Assigned to CHILIN Army District, 6th Ind Div, 16th (TAN) 3d WING CHUNGCHILIEN 3d PAT, 9th “MIN” INCHILINSHENG, MANCHURIA (吉林軍區獨立六師十六團三營■■建三排■■■吉林省■■■■). Strength 10,000 men.
Dec 48: Transferred to 4th Field Army District, 3d Army, 156th Div, 466th (TAN) 3d Wing CHUNGCHI LIEN 3d (PAI) 9th (MIN) MUKDEN (第四野戰軍43軍156師446團3營里相建三排九班奉天■■■). Strength 120,000 men.
Dec 48: PW unit (80,000 men) departed for the vicinity of PECHING (北京附近). 40,000 men remained in MANCHURIA.
27 Feb 49: PW unit (80,000 men) traveled to various places in CHINA to engage the Chinese Nationalist forces.
Dec 49: In NANCHANG, CHIANGSIH-SHENG (江西省南昌市) all Korean nationals in CCF ordered to return to KOREA to aid the NKA. 13,000 Korean nationals were assigned to the 15th Div and sent to WONSAN, N.K. 15th Div was changed to the 7th Div All personnel remained.

4. EQUIPMENT USED IN CCF:
Japanese light tanks - confiscation from Chinese Nationalist forces.
Japanese Heavy-Artillery 160mm - limited supply, confiscated from the Japanese and the Chinese Nationalist forces. Exact amount on hand (unknown) were used constantly during engagement with Chinese Nationalist forces.
USA HMG 30 caliber - water cooled - many are used in the CCF. Exact amount unknown.
Rocket launchers (USA) captured from Chinese Nationalist forces. Many are in use in CCF.
M1899 Japanese rifles and US SMG caliber 45 - many are in use in CCF. USA version of 45 caliber. SMG are being manufactured at the rate of 3,000 daily at MUKDEN (奉天市), MANCHURIA, 60mm and 82mm mortars (USA) unlimited supply. USA version of 60-82mm mortars are also manufactured in HARBIN, MUKDEN and CHILIN (哈爾賓奉天吉林). Exact location unknown.
USA caliber 45 pistol - unlimited amount. Captured from the Chinese Nationalist forces. 9.2 type Japanese HMG - many being in use by CCF. Captured from the Japanese forces. Horse driven supply carts are extensively used in transporting supplies on rough and narrow roads. Unlimited supply of horses, large and small.

5. STRENGTH OF CHINESE COMMUNIST ARMY:
a. 1st Field Army - 1,000,000 men, poorly armed, 70% poor fighters. Location: North-west area of CHINA. CC PYONG, Tok Hoe, age 50.
b. 2d Field Army - 1,300,000 men, poorly armed, 70% poor fighters, Location: Southwest area, CHINA. CG LIU Pai Shen (劉伯承). Age about 60.
c. 3d Field Army - 1,000,000 men, poorly armed, 70% poor fighters. Location: Southeast area. CG CHINWI (陳의). Age 50.
d. 4th Field Army - 1,200,000 men, fairly well armed, 60% good fighters. Location: Middle south area. CG LIN Piao (林彪). Age 43.

6. TERRITORIAL DEFENSE TROOPS AND RAIL GUARDS:
Strength approximately 1,500,000 men. As of Apr 50 the strength of the CCF was about 6,000,000 men.

7. HEARSAY: 1948-49
a. That in HUNCHUN (琿春) many large factories engaged in making 60 and 82mm mortar shells, and ammunition for small arms and weapons.
b. MUKDEN (奉天) USA version of the SMG 45 Caliber are manufactured. Daily output 3,000.
c. In HARBIN (哈爾賓) motor vehicles of all types used in MANCHURIA are manufactured.
