2. ASSESSMENT:
PW was below average intelligence. Constant effort was required to obtain information contained herein. Interrogator believes train schedules are pure guesswork. Reliability - poor.

CHRONOLOGY:
Mar 38 - Removed to Home Address with parents. Engaged in farming, raising pears, soy beans and some rice.
Jul 49 - Inducted into NK People’s Liberation Army. Immediately deported for NK.
ROUTE OF TRAVEL FROM CHUHO (洙河) TO ANTUNG (安東) JUL 49.
When the PW was inducted into the People’s Liberation Army at home address, he and other conscripts were taken by train to NK. The train, numbered 14 passenger cars for civilian passengers, (Ⅱ third class cars and 3 second class cars) and 26 old freight cars for the inductees (such cars held from 50 to 80 inductees). Time of arrival and departure were as follows. Departed CHUHO 0700 hr 12 Jul 49; arrived PINCH’IANG (濱江) 15 hr 12 Jul 49 departed within four minutes; arrived CHANGCH’UN 0800 hr 13 Jul 49 departed immediately after; arrived SHENYANG (瀋陽) 0900 hr 14 Jul 49; departed following day at 0900 hr 15 Jul 49, arrived ANTUNG 0400 hr 16 Jul 50.
Train fare for civilian from CHUHO to ANTUNG via PINCH’IANG and SHENYANG was 12,000 Yuan.

RESTRICTION OF TRAVEL
Jul 1949
For any travel up to 40km, a written permit from the local village head was required. Any travel beyond 40 km, a travel permit bearing the seal of governor of the HSIEN (縣) was required. This could be obtained only in the case of emergency, such as death of relatives. To across the Manchurian border, a passport from the office of the governor of the SHENG (省) was required, which was virtually impossible to obtain.
