1. ASSESSMENT:
PW was talkative and seemed cooperative but was not observant. He was unable to estimate distances or dimension and contradicted himself frequently.

2. TACTICAL INFORMATION:
Chronology:
Born in WANGCH’ING (往淸) MANCHURIA on 16 Jan ’30. 6 yr primary school in MANCHURIA. Worked on father’s farm.
12 Mar 49 - Joined Manchurian Democratic Army, Rear Echelon Ordinance Seat, Ind Security Guard Co (東北 民主聯軍 ■勤部軍 杠部獨立警衛中隊) at YENCHI (延吉).
20 Mar 49 - Arrived HARBIN (哈爾濱) with the Security Guard Co (Approx 130 men). Stationed for 4 months at the old Japanese Soldiers Monument, approx, 6 km SE of the main HARBIN RR Station.
23 Sep 49 - Moved to KIAMUSZE (桂木斯) with the Security Guard Co.
20 Mar 50 - Transferred to P’YONYANG, KOREA. Assigned to NKA.

Airfield at HARBIN (哈爾濱):
Observation PW observed the airfield on several occasions from a distance of 1500 m during period Apr 49 to May 49.
Location: The airfield was located 6 km ESE of the main HARBIN RR station, 2 km N of the RR line to MUTANCHANG (牡丹江) and 4 km NNE of the old Japanese Soldiers Monument which was approx. 40 m high.
Area: The airfield was situated on a level terrain E of HARBIN. The airfield was approx. 1000 m E/W by 400m N/S and was oblong in shape. No fence or boundary markers were observed.
Runway and Surface: The field was covered with grass 10cm high and seems quite level.
A damaged concrete runway was located in the central portion of the field in a general E to W direction. Dimension of runway were unk.
Facility: Two possible hangar bldg. with arched roofs were located on the S portion of the field. No further details.
Aircraft: None observed.
Personnel: Unknown.
Remarks: As of Apr 49 the runway of this airfield was under repair by CCF 8th Route Army. PW heard that this former Japanese Airfield was destroyed by Russian Aircraft during World War II.

Airfield at KIAMUSZE (桂木斯)
Observation: PW observed this airfield on one occasion in Jul 48 from a distance of approx. 1500 m.
Location: The airfield was located 12 km SW of the main KIAMUSZE RR Station 5 km S of a RR bridge 1000m long and 2 km NW of a low mountain range.
Area: The airfield did not have any fence or boundary markers but was oblong in shape, 600 x 300 m.
Runway and Surface: There were four damaged E/W concrete runways located on the central portion of the field. Dimensions of runways were unknown. The airfield surface was covered with grass approx. 20 cm high.
Facilities: Two destroyed reinforced concrete bldg. were located on the E portion of the field; no other facilities observed.
Aircraft: Non observed.
Personnel: Unk.
Remarks: This former Japanese airfield was destroyed during World War II and has not been used or repaired since. Also the single line RR spur which led to the airfield from the main KIAMUSZE RR Station has not been repaired as of Jul 48.

Underground Fuel Storage at KIAMUSZE (桂木斯):
Observation: PW observed the storage area under construction on several occasions in Jun 49 from a distance of 2000m.
Location: The storage area was located 2 km E of the Main KIAMUSZE RR Station and 1.5 km N of a water supply tower situated stop a low hill 1.5km SE of the RR station.
Area: The storage area was under construction and constantly guarded by a Korean Security Guard Co. A single line RR spur led to this underground fuel storage area from the rain RR station.
Remarks: PW heard from a fellow EM of this storage area that one large underground gasoline storage tank was under construction. He was told by this guard that this tank was capable of storing more than 300 55 gal drums of gasoline. No further information.

Others:
PW stated that the area E of the RR track was restricted to all personnel. He stated that a large number of CCF Military Warehouses and barracks were located in this area. No details.
