1. PERSONAL DETAILS:

2. ASSESSMENT:
Education - 4 yr, primary school.
Physical condition - Wounded in leg at PYONGCHANG (DS 4535).
Has recovered from typhus recently, and appeared dazed and weak.
Not cooperative. Was not interested in giving information. Information considered unreliable.

3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:
a. Chronology:
Aug 48 - Conscripted at CHINNAMPO.
Nov 50 - Assigned to 2d Ind Regt at PYONGGANG (CT 5152).
Late Nov - Regt arrived KUMHWA (CT 6638).
Early Dec - Regt arrived YONGCH’ON (CT 3218).
Mid Dec - Regt arrived HWACH’ON (CT 3618). Left behind when Regt headed for TANYANG (DR 3987). Reported to II Cops in HWACH’ON at that time and was ordered to report to 2d Div at TUNNAE-MYON.
Early Feb 51 - With two others arrived at the 2d Div, passing thru CHUNCH’ON.
O/a 25 Feb 51 - 2d Div arrived PYONGCHANG (DS 4535).
O/a 26 Feb 51 - PW was wounded. Walked to TUWON-NI (30 km N of PYONGCHANG) intending to go to CHUNCH’ON.
11 Mar 51 - Captured at TUWON-NI.

b. Organization, Strength & Weapons:
2d Ind Regt strength was 1200 men. Heard at II Corps at HWACH’ON, that the regiment was deactivated after leaving HWACH’ON in mid Dec 50. Members of Regt were integrated into 9th Div.

Food - Foraged from villages, No supply of food received from rear.
Ammo - Received 140 rd of PPSH SMG ammo. Troops were supplied with 70 rd of Russ rifle ammo, 25 Feb 51.
Clothing - All wore winter clothing. No new supplies received.

d. Replacement:
None

e. Morale:
Low due to lack of food, clothing, and rest. Troops were unwilling to fight. No leaflets observed.

f. Casualties:
Did not know rate of casualties, but stated that due to heavy losses by air attacks, arty barrages, and typhus, strength of Div was reduced to that of a Regt.

g. Additional Info:
Observed 7-800 CCF troops at CHUNCH’ON heading toward KAPYONG (195865) in early Feb 51. All troops armed with Japanese M-99 and M-38 rifles.
No heavy weapons seen.
1st Feb 51, 100 Russ made trucks of the CCF were seen loaded with ammo at CHUNCH’ON. Heard from a driver that the convoy was headed for KAPYONG (195865).
