1. PERSONAL DETAILS:

PLACE AND DATE OF CAPTURE: Captured at Hill 813 (DS003515) 030800 Mar 51 by 2d Bn, 2d Regt, 6th ROK Div.
OCCUPATION: Farmer
EDUCATION: 1 yr

2. ASSESSMENT:
PW was severely wounded around his groin and, after a short interrogation, immediately evacuated through medical channels.

3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:
a. Organization and Strength:
PW was a member of the 66th Army which is composed of the 196th, 197th, 198th Div, Heavy Mortar Co, Recon Co, and Signal Co.
197th Div composed of the 586th, 587th, 588 Regt, Signal Plat, Recon Plat, and Heavy Weapons Co.
588th Regt composed of three battalions, Signal Plat, Recon Sqd, and Heavy Weapons Company.
First Bn had an original strength of 500 men but at present it has approx 250. It is composed of three companies and HMG company. Each company has a present strength of approx 60 men.

b. Deployment of PW Own Unit:
022100 Mar 51, the 588th Regt retreated north. Due to wounds, PW could not retreat and 030800 Mar 51 was captured by elements of the 6th ROK div.
As of 022100 Mar 51, the 1st Bn CP was 1 km N of (DS003515) where PW captured. 2d Bn CP was 2 km W of the 1st Bn CP and the 3d Bn CP was 2 km W of 2d Bn CP. Regiment CP was in a small village 2 km NW of 1st Bn CP and 2 km NE of 2n Bn CP.

c. Deployment of Other Units:
Heard from his company commander that the other regiments of his Div were to the east.

d. Status of Arms and Ammo:
Within his company there were two 50mm mortars with 30 rounds of ammo each, four LMG with 400 rounds of ammo each, 30 US M-1 rifles with 90 rounds each. Each men carried 4 handgrenades.
In the Heavy Weapons Company, attached to the battalion, there are one HMG and one 82mm mortar.

e. Mission and Intention:
Heard from his company commander that the mission of the 66th Army was to hold its present position.

f. Personalities:
LEE Pu Chai (李福才), 27 yr, CO 1st Bn.
LEE Chung Lyun (李正龍), 25 yr, CO 1st Co.
Liu Su Chu (刘■起), 24 yr, 2d Plat Ldr.

g. Physical Condition of Troops:
No communicable diseases exist among the troops. Suffer from stomach trouble due to bad food.

h. Propaganda and/or Surrender Leaflets:
Did not hear any air broadcasts. Picked up surrender leaflets on several occasions. He wanted to surrender after reading them but because his superior kept constant watch over the men they did not have a chance to desert.

i. Morale:
Morale was low due to the fact that food was poor and insufficient, and torn clothing worn without changes.
