e. Food, Ammo and Other Supplies
Food was received from various villages and towns in insufficient amounts. Two or three meals were received daily, usually consisting of 800 to 1,000 grams per man.
Limited amount of ammo was received by wagons.

f. Armor, Artillery and Aircraft
While 8th Div was proceeding to ILSAN (CS0373), PW observed 15 45mm guns pulled by oxen. No ammo seen being transported with them. Believed guns belonged to a II Corps unit.

g. Morale and Battle Effectiveness
50% of 8th Div composed of recruits forceably conscripted. These men had no will to fight and would have surrendered if convinced they would not be killed by their captors. The only obstacle to their surrendering was that they were frequently told of atrocities by the UN Forces.
Remaining 50% was composed of regular NKA troops who, regardless of hardships, would not surrender. These believe NKA and CCF will have ultimate victory.

h. Signal
Phones and wireless were used by Recon Co in communicating with 8th Div Hq.
Runners were employed within Recon Co.

i. Psychological Warfare
Forceably conscripted into NKA from his home in South KOREA.
Leaflets observed frequently.
NKA regulars did not believed leaflets’ contents. They stated it was nothing but lies. 50% (former South Koreans) doubted contents, too, but not as emphatically as the others. However, since they read leaflets and still did not surrender, leaflets seemed ineffective. Nevertheless, leaflets maintain an ultimate hope within the South Koreans that they have an alternative available to them when circumstances force them to act one way or the other.
