1. PERSONAL DETAILS:

2. ASSESSMENT:
Captured by 2d Plat, 52d FA Bn. Appeared to be in good physical condition. Cooperative and information is considered fairly reliable. Served with the CNA for approx 2½ years and held a rank of a sqd ldr. Not recommended for further interrogation.

3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:
a. Chronology:
Due to shortage of troops Security Co was assigned to 3d Bn, 337th Regt approx 15 days ago. O/a 25 Feb 51 3d Plat, Security Co (25 men) relieved elements of 8th Rifle Co, 3d Bn, 337th Regt, on Hill 937 CS701544. 3d Plat remained at this position for approx 10 days. Received arty fire and had 3 casualties. Believes 8th Co withdrew to lower ground on same hill. 1st Plat, Guard Co was on lower ground on Hill 937. 5 Mar 51 PW and 2 others departed for 2d Plat position to have 2d Plat notify PW plat in event they withdrew from positions. Could not locate 2d Plat and enroute back found that his plat had withdrawn to new position. PW and 2 others, 3 stragglers picked up enroute wandered about looking for Guard Co Hq for approx 6 days when captured by UN forces.

b. PW Unit:
38th Army composed of the 112th, 113th and 114th Div. When 38th Army arrived in P'YONGYANG Dec 50, 38th Army was called "PINGCHUAN PU". 113th Div was known as "ERH TA TUI" (2d Bn). 112th Div was known as "II TA TUI". 113th Div composed of 337th, 338th and 339th Regt. 337th Regt composed of 3 Rifle Bn. 3d Bn composed of 7th, 8th, 9th Co and Hv Wpn Co.

Approx 20 men from Security Co were transferred to various units of 337th Regt just after crossing 38th Parallel.

Arty Bn, 113th Div: Observed 6 arty guns (155mm). Had wooden wheels capped with steel. These were observed just prior to crossing parallel. Believes they are US or Japanese made.

e. Food Supply:
Food is locally procured. Troops generally ate 2 meals per day.

f. Morale:
General morale of troops in PW Co is low. Troops no longer believe promises of their superiors. Not one promise was fullfilled.

g. Leaflets & Broadcasts:
PW read leaflet and desired to surrender, however, feared that he would be killed. Approx 70 percent of the men have no desire to fight, however, believes that the main reason they do not surrender is that they fear they will be shot. Heard broadcast approx 2 weeks ago. Broadcasts are more effective than leaflets due to great illiteracy rate among the ranks. Also they will be punished severely if caught reading leaflets.

h. UN PW:
Observed approx 300 (US, Turkish) PW in vic of KAECH'ON, Dec 50. Political leader stated that Turkish troops were among this group. PW were being marched N from KAECH'ON.
