2. ASSESSMENT:
Captured by elements of I & R Plat, 21st RCT. In good physical condition at interrogation. Cooperative and of average intelligence. Information considered fairly reliable. Sqd Ldr in the CNA for approx 4 yr. Not recommended for further interrogation.

3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:
a. Chronology:
O/a 061700 Mar 51 Regt Guard Co of 112 men left the 337th Regt CP. 337th Regt was in SINTONG, (phonetic) a small village of approx 10 houses vic CS 690580. O/a 062100 Mar 51 Guard Co arrived on Hill 937 CS 701544 and relieved 8th Co of 3d Bn defending the hill for the past 9 days. Hill 937 was under heavy arty bombardment and constant air strikes.
O/a 080500 Mar 51 Guard Co withdrew N leaving 2d Sqd behind. Approx 2 hours later Sqd (7 men) realized they were left behind. Decided to retreat N but forced to take a NE direction because US Forces have already occupied the hill. 2d Sqd traveled in NE direction for 2 days looking for their Co. O/a 102245 Mar 51 they were captured by elements of I & R Plat, 21st RCT.

While in CHINA the 38th Army was known as the "TUNG NAN PU" Unit and the 112th, 113th and 114th Div were known as 1st, 2d and 3d Div respectively. After crossing YALU River, 38th Army was also called the 51st Unit.

d. Disposition
1st and 2d Bn were located W of 3d Bn.

e. Intentions
Guard Co mission was to guard Regt CP but due to shortage of personnel the Guard Co was sent in to the line. Mission was to defend Hill 937 CS 701544.

f. Food & Ammo
Limited amount of food was procured from villagers. Ammo on hand 50 rd per man.

g. Replacements
O/a 26 Feb 51 the assistant political leader of the Guard Co stated that he and several others from the 4th Field Army were going to CHINA to get 4,000 replacements from CHINA and 10,000 from MANCHURIA. Assistant political leader had not returned as yet.

h. Dispositions:
Heard that the 38th, 39th, 40th and 42d Armies entered KOREA but only knows that the 38th and 39th Armies have crossed the 38th parallel.

i. Morale
Morale of troops generally low. Heard numerous conversations among fellow soldiers that the CCF is fighting a fruitless war because of lack of weapons, clothing and food.

j. UN Leaflet & Broadcast
PW read UN leaflets twice but was confused because officers and NCO of his unit always said that they would be killed if taken prisoner. Heard no broadcast.
