4. NKA PERSONNEL IN CCF:
One NKA soldier was assigned to each CCF company at MANP’OJIN (滿浦鎭). These NKA soldiers acted as interpreters and liaison personnel for the CCF troops. All of them were able to speak Chinese fluently and PW believed that some of them had served in the CCF in CHINA. These NKA men all wore CCF uniforms and all held the rank of private.
In Jan 50, an order was issued by the Chinese Communist government that all Korean personnel in the CCF be sent back to KOREA to participate in the Korean Civil war which PW understood had just started.
All Korean personnel, from various CCF units were sent to CHENGCHOW (鄭州), HONAN-SHENG (河南省) where they were organized, then sent to ANTUNG (安東), MANCHURIA. It was heard that these Koreans were in ANTUNG (安東) for about a week, then crossed the border into KOREA.
In Jul 50, while taking training at LIUHO (柳河), PW company political officer told them that the group of Koreans who were sent back to KOREA were fighting at TAEGU (大邱), KOREA.

5. JAPANESE IN THE CCF:
PW had never heard of Japanese nationals serving with the CCF except for medical personnel. Forty to fifty Japanese of both sexes served in the 42nd Army as doctors and nurses. All these Japanese including the women held officers’ ranks. These Japanese medical personnel came to KOREA with the 42nd Army. PW last saw them at CHANGJIN (長津).
PW believed that there were Japanese medical personnel serving in every CCF Army, at least of the 4th Field Army.

6. RECRUITING OF CCF PERSONNEL:
In Jun 50, young men between the ages of 17 - 25, in LIUHUNGLU (刘紅綠), HEILUNGCHIANG-SHENG (黑龍江省), were picked and given military training locally. PW believed these men who then received training are now in the regular CCF units fighting in KOREA.

7. PAY IN CCF (MONTHLY):
Pvt and squad leader 76,000 yuan
Platoon leader 130,000 yuan
Company commanding officer 160,000 yuan

8. CHINESE PEOPLE’S GENERAL ATTITUDE:
PW stated that the Chinese people still remember the Russians as those who raped women, and took the machinery from the factories in MANCHURIA. Even today large quantities of soybeans, furs, leathers, and other types of raw materials are being sent into RUSSIA from MANCHURIA and other parts of CHINA, while CHINA’s own people suffer and starve.
The Chinese people do not consider RUSSIA as a friendly nation and they dislike the Chinese Communist Party just as much as they do RUSSIA.
During the eight long years of bitter fighting against the imperialistic Japanese, the Chinese people had suffered much. They thought that when the war was over, they would be living a free and peaceful life again. But, far from what they had expected, as soon as the “War of Resistance” was over, the Chinese Communists stirred up another war, a civil war, a war in which the Chinese fought against the Chinese. It was true that the people dislike the Nationalist government, but now they have come to dislike the Chinese Communists also. They dislike them because they created the civil war, and because they made the war-torn country suffer more. If it was not for their creating another war, the Chinese people would have had a chance to recuperate and to rebuild their homes and businesses.

9. PROPAGANDA:
a. Relations between CHINA and RUSSIA:
While taking 2½ months training in LIUHO (柳河), LIAOTUNG-SHENG (遼東省) in the summer of 50, Regiment Political commissar, lectured generally as follows:
RUSSIA is CHINA’s real friend. She will help CHINA build into a democratic country such as RUSSIA is now, 1 Oct 49, CHINA and RUSSIA signed a treaty in which both countries agreed to maintain their mutual friendship and alliance. Within the year 1950, RUSSIA would complete the delivery of 310,000 US dollars worth of machinery which she agreed to exchange with CHINA for raw materials such as: soybeans, furs, leathers, etc. She gave CHINA three years to deliver these raw materials.
Today, about sixty of the seventy some countries of the world are democratic countries; the balance are imperialistic countries such as: US, ENGLAND, GERMANY, FRANCE, JAPAN, TURKEY, etc. GERMANY, FRANCE and JAPAN are the defeated countries of World War II. CHINA alone will be sufficient to fight all these imperialistic countries. RUSSIA today has more planes, tanks, and troops than the US. RUSSIA now has 10,000,000 troops, US is no longer the only country that has atomic bombs as RUSSIA also has them now. RUSSIA, however, does not intend to use this bomb until the US uses it first.

b. Relations between CHINA and NORTH KOREA:
(IN: The following is generally what the PW regiment political commissar told his unit about the relation between CHINA and KOREA).
During the years of fighting against the imperialistic Japanese, many Koreans fought side by side with the Eighth Route Army and again, with the same Army, in our recent (Chinese) civil war. They have given us much help. We, therefore, feel that it is only right for us to help our Korean comrades in anyway we can against the South Koreans. It may be necessary for us to help the NKA fight the South Koreans should the South Koreans turn out to be superior in strength to our North Korean comrades. The US government has sent two divisions of troops and some Air Force units from JAPAN to KOREA. This certainly puts our national border in danger. We must defend our border against any possible US invasion.

For the Commanding Officer:
