Education - 6 yrs primary school.

2 Oct 50: Inducted at SONGCHON (BU 6047).

3 Nov 50: Arr KWANGGYE (BA 5337) and assigned to 12th Div.

26 Nov 50: Div left KWANGGYE.

10 Dec 50: Div arr YANGDOK (BU 9757).

20 Dec 50: Div arr ICH’ON (CT 1562).

27 Dec 50: Div arr WONJU. Encountered UN Forces.

2 Jan 51: Withdrew to HONGCH’ON.

24 Jan 51: Engaged UN Forces in HOENGSONG Area.

22 Feb 51: Left behind by Div due to illness.

24 Feb 51: Captured by ROK unit at ANHUNG. (DS2439)

12th Div: 1st, 2d, and 3d Regt.

3d Regt: 1st, 2d, and 3d Bn, (Original Strength 450 men ea)

2d Bn: 4th, 5th, and 6th Rifle Co.

HMG Co: 60 men (w/3 HMG, Russ rifles)

82mm Mortar Co: 120 (w/3 mortars, 82mm, w/2 rd carried by each man)

At Rifle Plat: 10 (w/Russ rifles, w/100 rd ammo ea. No AT Rifle)

Comm Plat: 13 (w/2 sets of receiver and transmitter)

Rifle Co: (50-70 men)

3 Plat: 17-22 per Plat, 3 sqd to plat.

Each sqd had 6-8 men armed w/Russ rifles and 200 rd of ammo ea, and one grenade.

2d Bn, 3d Regt: TUKOKE

Used among troops. Has never been changed.

Food: Procured from local villages.

Ammo: Resupplied with 50 rd rifle ammo at HONGCH’ON 30 Jan 51.

Clothing: All issued winter clothing in Nov 50.

Low among EM due to strafing by planes, lack of food and equipment. Most NK officers firmly believe the communists will win the war.

80 killed, 160 wounded in 3d Bn since Nov 50.

No contagious sickness.

Bn was strafed by 3 to 4 planes every 3-4 days, during Jan-Feb. Was effective in demoralizing troops.

10 Dec 50, 3d Bn lost 70 men, (50-WIA, 20-KIA) sustained by strafing at YANGDOK (BU 9757).
