1. PERSONAL DETAILS:

2. ASSESSMENT:
Cooperative but no tactical information.
Reliability - Good

3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:
a. Chronology:
3 Jan 51: Captured by CCF at MOKTONG-NI.
8 Jan 51: Turned over to 12th Div near HONGCHON and assigned to replacement Bn.
17 Feb 51: Escaped.
25 Feb 51: Captured.

b. Organization:
Replacement Bn: Officers, Plat and Sqd Ldr members of NKA, all others former ROK.
Bn HQ: 20 (including 10-12 officers).
1st Co: Unk.
2nd Co: 75 men.
3rd Co: Unk.
Total approx 300 men.

c. Weapons:
Sqd and Plat Ldr: PPSH SMG w/200 rd.
Co CO and Bn HQ Officers: Pistols.
Former ROK: No weapons.

d. Type of Work During Period With NKA:
(1) Carried NK wounded from NK 12th Div collecting point (16 km S of HONGCHON) to V Corps Hosp (24 km NW of HONGCHON by way of main road between HONGCH’ON-CHUNCH’ON, then 4 km E into a valley where there are several hundred homes.)
(2) Dug shelters (1 meter wide, 4 meters long, 1.5 meters deep, covered with evergreen branches) on foot and side of hill, 4 km S of HONGCHON-SEOUL main road, 8 km SW of HONGCHON.
(3) 15 Feb 51: Each soldier in Repl Bn carried 5 pr of black, canvas top, rubber sole service type shoes from HONGCHON to ANHUNG.
17 Feb 51: Arr ANHUNG. Told to carry litter patients back to HONGCH’ON. PW deserted that night.
(4) Jan 51 each soldier in 2d Co carried, 2 rifles (US M-1 and Russ Rifles) from a house in outskirts of HONGCH’ON to village 8 km NE by way of main road, then 2 km N into a valley. No other weapons or ammo observed.

e. Type of Indoctrination:
(1) NKA has surrounded TAEGU and has cut off UN MSR to PUSAN.
(2) NKA planes are now flying over North KOREA.
(3) Trains are now operating in North KOREA.

f. Transportation:
Observed trucks (former ROK) pass on main road from CHUNCHON to HONGCH’ON almost nightly with headlights on.
