2. ASSESSMENT:

3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:
27 Nov 50 - CHOU Som U and PAE San Han were captured at MIYAN SAN by a CCF unit and were turned over to NKA 6th Div where they were utilized as litter bearer.
2 Jan 51 - LA Ki Tu was captured at KAPYONG by a CCF unit and was turned over to NKA V Corps. Assigned to V Corps Regt. Source was utilized as a litter bearer.
10 Jan 51 - Sources and 28 other ex-ROK PW including one officer and 3 NCO were attached to V Corps Political Section (located 4km E of HOENGSONG). During period 10 Feb - 21 Feb 51 while interned at corp’s political section, were treated well, fed twice daily and did no work except cooking and polishing their daily rice. Quartered in civilian homes at night they hid nearby mountains during the day to avoid air attack.
At night sources frequently noticed NK political officers and NCO watching them and listening to their conversation.
21 Jan 51 - 2200 hr they were told they would be given an important mission. First of all were asked whether they would like to return home. The mission consisted of spreading propaganda to all civilians in area of UN units to the effect that NKA has no intentions of molesting civilian populace, therefore evacuating was unnecessary. Secondly, to obtain information regarding US and ROK unit location and strength. The information was to be given to any willing civilian who would forward to V Corps Hq (any civilian on NK line who inquired for V Corps Hq would be escorted there by troops). Also were told to spread among civilians and if possible among ROK troops that they were captured, well treated and recently released by the NKA.
21 Jan 51 - Immediately after the lecture 7 men were released.
22 Jan 51 - 9 men were released. 8 were taken unknown place by political officers. Later during the day sources 3 were released. At this time, 4 men remained including one officer and three NCO.
24-25 Jan 51 - Captured at HAILLI (DS 2831) by 32nd RCT.
Observed Lt Gen in vic of V Corps Hq on jeep.
