1. PERSONAL DETAILS:
PW NAME: IM, Pong Ja (任鳳在)

UNIT: 8th NK Div, 1st Regt 2d Bn, 45mm gun plat

DATE AND PLACE OF CAPTURE: Captured 14 Feb 51 at CS324434.
UNIT MAKING CAPTURE: A Co, 65th RCT

2. CIRCUMSTANCES OF CAPTURE:
PW was in 45mm gun platoon and because they didn’t have 45mm gun carried 82mm mortar shells. Dissatisfied with NK ideology and this his first chance to surrender, came down from the mountain 1000 hr 14 Feb 51 to surrender.

3. ASSESSMENT:
Physical condition: Good. Attitude: Fair. Reliability: Fair. Recommended for further interrogation.

Saw 8th NK Div Hq 10 Feb 51 in vicinity CS202607.

c. Deserted.

d. Unit Mission:
Heard from platoon leader 1200 12 Feb 51 that unit’s mission to infiltrate UN line and attack supply lines and communications, and act as guerilla force harassing UN troops.

e. Location of adjacent unit:
1800 12 Feb 51, saw 1 battalion of NK, and his platoon leader said they were from 47th NK Division. Saw them at vicinity CS213583.
Saw few CCF at vicinity CS248575 on 12 Feb 51.

f. Heavy Weapons:
(1) 1 x 82mm mortar (14 Feb 51)
(2) 1 x 76mm M1939 in SEOUL (12 Feb 51)
(3) 1 x 120mm mortar in SEOUL (12 Feb 51)

g. HAN River crossing:
(1) Crossed HAN River at TUKSON CS280560 2330 12 Feb 51.
(2) No bridging equipment used.
