1. PERSONAL DETAILS:

2. CIRCUMSTANCES OF CAPTURE:
Captured with 3 other wounded after being separated from retreating unit. Discovered by UN troops while hiding on top of hill vicinity of KOSAN DONG (CS322434) 1200 14 Feb 51.

b. Unit Location:
1st Regt left SEOUL evening of 12 Feb 51 and arrived at hill 12 km N of KODUNG NI (CS325440) at daybreak 13 Feb 51. Unit dug positions on hill upon arrival and 1100 13 Feb 51 attacked from four sides by UN troops. Received shell fragment wounds on shoulder and thigh in encounter. At night fall, 1st Regt left position and headed S to escape. Followed about 1,000 troops with three other wounded but could not keep up. Lost the group and hid on top of hill near KOSAN DONG (CS322434) where captured. Surrendered to US troops after being wounded and separated from unit.

Believes unit’s mission to infiltrated behind UN lines and create disturbances.

d. Location and Identification of Other Units:
Claims 8th Div Hq, 2d Regt, and 3d Regt last seen 12 Feb 51 at N outskirts of SEOUL.

e. Heavy Weapons:
(1) 81mm mortar - One to 2d Bn
(2) HMG Maxim - Two to HMG Co.

f. Reinforcements:
10 Jan 51 Plat received 10 replacements. Recruits drafted in NORTH KOREA and brought to SEOUL.

g. HAN River Crossing:
1st Regt crossed HAN River TUKSON CS280560 on night 12 Jan 51. No bridging equipment used since crossing made on frozen river.

h. Unit History:
8th NK Div organized at CHOSAN (on the YALU River) Oct 50. 8th Div organized with recruits and remnants of other NK units.
8th Div left CHOSAN 2 Dec 50 and arrived HAEJU (in ONJIN Peninsula) 23 Dec 50 via PYONGYANG and CHARIWON on foot. Left HAEJU 12 Jan 51 and arrived in SEOUL, after four day stay in YONAN BS5099, 3 Feb 51.
