a. Chronology:
Oct 49 - Conscripted into present CCF unit and took 6 mo of mil tng.
26 Oct 50 - 40th Army crossed YALU river from ANTUNG, MANCHURIA.
13 Feb 51 - 40th Army arr SONGHO-RI (CS 9938)
14 Feb 51 - 120th Div deployed on Hill 342 (DS 0437) while 118th and 119th Div disposed W and SW of WONJU.
15 Feb 51 - Captured by 187th Abn RCT.

Above howitzers during movement disassembled and packed on mules along with ammo.

d. Enemy Intention:
CCF 40th Army, in conjunction with 38th and 42d Armies, using 9 divisions, shall encircle WONJU and take city. A possible fourth Army, the 36th Army rumored among CCF troops to participate in attack on WONJU as reserve. (?) 120th Div of 40th Army will attack from NW; 118th and 119th Div from west and southwest of WONJU.
Overall plan to seize WONJU by 17 Feb 51; while 40th Army envelopes from NW, W and SW flanks, 38th and 42d Armies will encircle from east flank; when envelopment completed, howitzers and heavy mortar barrages will precede final push.

e. Supply:
Ammo: Howitzers: Approx 100 rd
   Mortars: Approx 4 shells each
Food: Very scarce

f. Replacement:
Has not observed any replacements since crossing YALU river 26 Oct 50 near ANTUNG.

g. Other Units:
10 Feb 51, undetermined locations N of WONJU, observed elements of 42d Army en route to WONJU. Other armies not observed, however, Co CO mentioned recently that both 42d and 38th Army would take part in attack on WONJU.

h. Disposition:
40th Army Hq 131200 Feb 51, was situated in houses in SONGHO-RI (CS 9938); 120th Div CP o/a 141800 Feb 51 at HYONGPYON and SANGUMOK, both located at DS 0237; troops of 120th Div on north and western slopes of Hill 342 (DS 0437), 118th and 119th Div deployed further S and SSW of Hill 342.

i. Morale:
Troops were in excellent spirits and displayed high morale. Taking effect was the constant US air attacks. Although some CCF completely ignored UN arty strikes, they feared US planes.
