1. PERSONAL DETAILS:
NAME: PAK, Jae Sank
AGE: 27
RANK: None (Former ROK, Captain)
UNIT: 1st Brig Hq (5th Div, 27th Regt)
DUTY: None (27th Regt Signal Officer)
DATE AND PLACE OF CAPTURE: 23 Feb 51, 8 km N of CHUCHON-NI (DS 3525)
UNIT MAKING CAPTURE: 17th RCT
INTERROGATOR: Cpl TAKEUCHI

2. ASSESSMENT:
Very cooperative but info limited. Reliability - Good.

3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:
a. Chronology:
14 Feb 51: Captured by an unknown NK unit near CHUCHON-NI.
15 Feb 51: Turned over to 1st Brig Hq located about 12 km N of CHUCHON-NI. Heard later he would be transferred to Corps Hq. Observed about 40 ROK PW, including one officer at Brig Hq.
20 Feb 51: Brig dep above area on foot heading N. While enroute escaped.
23 Feb 51: Apprehended at CHUCHON-NI by 17th RCT.

b. Organization and Weapons:
Brigade organization unk. Total strength of Brig observed during movement estimated 700-800 men. About 1/2 of personnel dressed in civilian clothing. 1/2 of latter armed with rifles and hand grenades. The remaining 1/2 utilized as ammo bearers, litter bearers and laborers.
Brigade equipment includes 81mm Mortar, Russ Rifles, US M-1 Rifles, Carbines and hand grenades. 80% of personnel carried small arms and two to three hand grenades each.
While in vicinity of CHUCHON-NI Brig frequently changed location 6 to 8 km W or E from original location 10 km N of CHUCHON-NI.
Heard Brig is a rear security unit of NKA, V Corps.
