2. ASSESSMENT:
PW returned to North KOREA in Sep 45. Unobservant, memory poor.
Reliability - Poor.

3. ARTILLERY:

Officers and NCOs were trained at the same time as the battalion.

e. Casualties
About 10 men from the Bn. One from PW battery, caused by air strikes.

f. Air attack
Men are afraid of air attacks.
Camouflage the guns and hide in nearby ditches. When they have warning in ample time they dig the gun in about 30cm and cover with grass.

g. Armament (Type)
45mm AT Russian guns, Russian pistols, SMG and carbines. 45mm M 1942 AT guns.

h. Movement
Trucks to haul only 45mm AT guns. Trucks manufactured in Russia.

i. Ammo & Fuses
Armor Piercing, Heavy Armor Piercing, Common Shell.
Common shell (  ) was used against enemy infantry men. Penetrated one meter in the ground and exploded at a 45 degree angle, killing men in a radius of 20m.
Armor piercing shell (  ) was used to damage light armored cars and tanks, and enemy position defended by brick or concrete walls.
Heavy armor piercing shell (  ) was used against heavily armored tanks. The shell after hitting the target, heated the armor up to 3,000℉, then the projectile entered the armor and exploded.
Impact Fuse
The fuse could be used in two ways:
1. When the plate is attached to the front of the fuse, the projectile exploded after hitting the target.
2. When the plate was not attached, the projectile exploded instantaneously upon hitting any object such as leaves, grass, etc.

j. Guns in Battery
Four 45mm AT guns.
Ammo (Amount Carried):
800 rounds to the battery, 200 rounds per gun.

Battalion ammo supply section.
AP Ammo was available.

Camouflaged trucks avoided main roads.
Expenditure (Ammo):
An Average of 100 rounds.

k. Organization of Position Area: The gun positions were generally picked on small hills which were thickly covered by trees. There were two ways of laying guns: One was to lay the guns in a line, each gun about 16m apart, other was to lay the guns in two lines about 20m apart.
Camouflage: Strong cloth net dyed in many colors or plain ropes for tree branches, grass, etc were used for camouflage.
Digging In (Guns): Dig in the twin trails only.
Employment (Direct or General Support): Direct support.
Employment (Offensive or Defensive): Offensive weapons.

l. Inf - Arty Team:
One battery accompanied an infantry Regt.
Commander (Inf - Arty Team): Infantry Regt commander.
Communications (Availability): Gun position to observers - Messenger. Battery to battalion - radio (type unk).
Method of Communication: Messengers.

m. Observation (Type): Forward observers. Behind Lines. Observers were not infiltrated. Adj of Fire. Co and a messenger adjusted fire. Communications by messengers.

n. Battery Fire Control (Type):
Concentrated fire. The CO designated the target from the forward position and the platoon leader fired about 4 to 5 rounds to get on the target. The guns fired from the middle of the target to the rear then to the front.
Rapid Fire - Target is designated in the same manner as the concentration fire. Rapid firing was used against tanks, against enemy in force or to cover withdrawal of NKA troops.
Massing of Fire:
Fires of battery and battalion can be massed.
Liaison:
Runners, he had no authority.
