2. ASSESSMENT:
Cooperative and intelligent. Reliability - fair.

3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:
a. Chronology:
3 Aug 50: Conscripted into NKA at SEOUL with 3,000 men.
10 Aug 50: 3,000 men walked to KUMHWA (金化), where they received basic training at the Field Training Center of KUMHWA.
1 Sep 50: Left KUMHWA with 600 men of the “Volunteer Army”.
8 Sep 50: 600 men arrived in ANBYON (安邊), where PW was assigned to 590th Unit, 8th Battalion. This unit consisted of 9 battalions.
9 Sep 50: 8th Battalion (consisting at the time of 60 men) went to SINMO (新母).
6 Oct 50: 8th Battalion (now numbering 500 men) arrived near WONSAN (元山).
8 Oct 50: Unit started retreating North and during retreat, PW reassigned to I Corps, 8th Div, 1st Regt, 3rd Bn, Medical Sect.
10 Nov 50: 8th Div arrived in CHOSAN (楚山), where PW received medical training for 3 days.
2 Dec 50: 8th Div departed CHOSAN.
4 Feb 51: 8th Div reached the vicinity of SIHUNG (始興).
6 Feb 51: 3 medics, including PW, took 6 wounded men to a rear area about 2 km behind the front lines. Their aim was to take the wounded to the regimental aid station.
7 Feb 51: PW with 2 other medics, was discovered by a Turkish unit. 6 wounded men are believed to be dead, as the house they were put in was hit by a bomb and burned down.

b. Personalities:
KIM, Pong Mun (金鳳文) (김봉문), 8th Div CG.

c. Disposition:
When last observed (29 Jan 51), 8th Division was located in the vicinity of KWANAKSAN (■岳山).

d. Morale:
Low, due to air attacks.

e. Evacuation and Treatment of Wounded:
Wounded who could not participate in combat were sent from battalion aid station to regimental aid station (located about 6 km to the rear of the battalion aid station). Seriously wounded were sent from the regimental aid station to temporary division hospital, located about 8 km to the rear of regimental aid station. Only medicines battalion aid station had, were tincture of iodine (■■丁■), camphor, morphine, TOMBIN (■빈), soda, and aspirin. Short of aspirin and iodine.

f. Other Units:
O/a 2 Feb 51, PW saw NK 47th Division near INCH’ON (仁川).

g. Weapons Feared Most:
Artillery fire.
