1. PERSONAL DETAILS:

DUTIES: Co Political Officer (If PW were NKA he would have rank of 1st Lieutenant. However, in the Guerrilla Unit there was no rank)

Report seems reliable.

3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:
a. Chronology:
PW was a communist party cell member secretary at SUNGJU (DQ 3575). He fled the city 25 Sep 50 since ROK forces were advancing.
Entered the KOREAN PEOPLES GUERRILLA UNIT SOUTH SECTION GENERAL HQ. REVOLUTION CHIDAE (Branch Unit) at HUPYONG NI (CT 3975) 24 Nov 50. Received no training. 13 Jan 51, became a political officer.
Departed HUP’YONG NI 24 Nov 50, marched, passed through ODAE SAN (五台山), TAE BAEK SAN (太白山), SOBAEK SAN (小白山) Mountain Ranges, and arrived at CHUNGCHONG PUKTO, KAESAN GUN, CHONGCHONG MYON, SADAN NI (忠淸北道 桂山群 靑天面 사단리) 6 Feb 51.
18 Feb 51, left SADAN NI (CR 8108) and roamed around the mountains. While resting in a house at YONGHWA RI, he was captured.

b. Location and Activities of Units: (As of 18 Feb 51)
Mission of the Guerrilla Unit was to disrupt the rear of the UN forces by infiltration.
GHQ did not have liaison with the NKA. As of 18 Feb 51, the 505th Regt, Revolution Chidae GHQ, Div Hq was located at SADAN NI. At a temple town, 2 km NW of SADAN NI, the Peoples Brigade was located.
At SANGSING NI (3 km west of SADAN NI), the 506th, 507th, 508th Regt were located.
Heard that the Guerrilla units will proceed to CHORLLA NAMDO, CHIRI SAN (全羅南道, 智異山).
Victory Division was formerly the CHIRISAN Guerrilla Unit.

In PW CHIDAE (Branch Unit) there were 7 women.
There were 60 women in the whole guerrilla unit.
PW claimed that the break down was alike in all guerrilla units, except for the numbers of men.

e. Replacements:
No definite replacement system. Recruited civilians or PW, and gave them one week of indoctrination. Weapons were issued to them. They are unable to run away because they were watched and shot if they tried.

f. Food, Ammo and Other Supplies:
Ammo and weapons were captured from UN forces after assault. At present, only 50 rd of ammo were carried by each solider.
Food was foraged and stolen.
All supplies were either stolen or taken after attacks.

g. Signal:
Branch Unit and Peoples’ Brigade utilized runners.
Victory Division and GHQ used telephones. GHQ had wireless.
Pass words were employed by every Guerrilla, but changed every day.

h. Morale and Battle Effectiveness:
Morale in PW unit was low because most of them have frost bitten feet and are sick.

i. Medical:
No contagious diseases in the PW Branch Unit.
All of the personnel had frost bitten feet, and there were no medicines for treatment. Those who couldn’t walk were shot.

j. Psychological Warfare:
PW was captured.
He had not seen any leaflets.
